ORIGINAL: Lockit I think this is a bit of backwards thinking. When did life require that adults couldn't have fun or even child-like fun? Why must we be child-like to be playful, enjoy some toys, go explore nature in building rock formations or whatever? Who says all these fun things are only for kids and it somehow would diminish our adult status or behavior to do them? I admit that I am an adult and I like to have fun! (And I ain't no kid! ) There's nothing in the definition of adult, the way I see it, that says it can't involve having fun. And it isn't childish or child-like to play, or have fun, either. The toys used, the methods of play, that can be child-like. Crayons and coloring books, sand-pit toys, kiddie-pools, and toy soldiers are child-like playing. But adults do lots of adult-like playing too! Sailing, rock climbing, wrestling, writing, drawing, singing, dancing... Sex, of course. I honestly do think that having fun and playing are critical and necessary parts of life, as critical to a human's wellbeing as healthy food, pure water, clean air.
