I am so tempted to spend money on an MP3 player, This Month I will have three paychecks so I want to spend some rather liberally. I have no desire for an "I" anything. I just can't see giving Steve Jobs money for something that works only for his company and his website.

I have been looking at the sandisk players but I see it more as a toy and don't see this as something I want to spend alot of money on.

Anyone have one? would you say its worth the money you spent?

Yeah, get something cheap and simple.

SOmething that allows you to increase it's capasity with SD cards.

I bought a 1 gig no name brand MP3 Player, then I bought 2 - 4 gig SD Cards. I now have ALL my music in my MP3 Player Belt Case. and I paid a Total or $40.00 for everything.... the most expensive thing was the CASE!

I love iTunes and my iPod.  I would not own anything else.  Are you aware that with an iPod you can d/l music and other media from various sources, it is not limited to iTunes.

I wouldn't trade my *I* product for anything. Sure, I've bought stuff in the itunes store but a good 90% of my (very large) music library is made up of things I've ripped from CDs or downloaded from other places.

I've had cheap little MP3 players and none have ever come close to what I have now. Money well spent.

I've only had mine for a couple of months, but I can't remember life before it!

It's sad, I know :)

The new Sony's... if you want it for music and it is about sound, the new 16 gig walk man is the way to go.

if that gives you enough room

Take a look at the Centon line of products. Cheap and simple but actually have nice features. No special software or cables needed. I paid $20 for an 8gig model.

I have an old Archos mp3 player. It's a bit of a dinosaur today ( I think I bought it back in 2004 maybe) but still works great. 20G hard drive and you can use it to move data from pc A to pc B. I actually have two - bought a second one for my daughter and then inherited it when she moved on to Ipods. I have to admit that the Ipod is pretty slick but the iTunes thing really sucks. Apple is my BP.
