This is not the sort of person, that should be allowed in to elected office. Very uneducated and unwise. Her speechs, website, and written comments are not well thought out (aka above a 6th grade level). Her arguements are simply unbelievable and out-rageous.

Some of her stuff sounds very 'traitorous' in nature. NOT the sort of person we want in our goverment! Because if she were, she simple vote 'no' on everything, and never contribute anything useful to the United States. Not that, there are very many conservatives in Congress right now, doing anything FOR the US of A.

With all of the problems facing this country right now, a candidates stand on abortion is low on my " consideration " list for supporting them, and I am very pro choice. RvW is unlikely to be overturned, it's been tried and failed many times.  I have no dog in this race, I despise Reid, but am not at all enamoured with Angle. But if I were a Nevada resident, this issue would be a non issue for me. I would have to weigh her position on things I believe are the " big ticket " issues.

Had a similar thing happen during Scott Brown's campaign here in Mass. It's a little different cuz Brown is pro choice and the Dems  tried portray him as pro life, turning rape victims away from medical care, etc . But they came at him full guns for his position on a single issue. I saw and heard all the same complaints as I see here and we all know the final outcome.

The interesting thing to me, and if I were Angle's campaign manager, I would remind the public of this :

The current healthcare bill, which Harry Reid supported and voted for, provides a out clause for religious objectors to abortion, to provide abortion services as long as they provide an alternative facility that will give the services the victim desires. Even in the event of rape. < Stupak ammendment >

I see all this hoopla over Angle's anti abortion belief as a smoke screen to cloud the real issues facing this country right now.

You need to take a look at the makeup of SCOTUS. There are 4 definite votes to over turn the right to privacy, Scalia, Thomas, Roberts, Alito. That means a single justice, out of the remaining 5, dying and being replaced by a anti choice justice and the right to privacy is done.

I am keenly aware of the make up of the SCOTUS. I am also aware that if one of these resign/pass during Obama's reign, we will have a replacement on the side of pro choice.

I remain firm that the abortion issue has a low priority on * my * list when choosing a candidate. I cannot base *my* vote for a candidate on " what ifs ".

snip:

replaced by a anti choice justice and the right to privacy is done.

I would suggest it is not dead, but becomes a state issue. Not ideal or even desired by me, but again it's a " what if " with a presumed outcome.

"privacy" is a bogus reason to permit abortion anyway. It should be decided on the merits of when a fetus enjoys the rights of a child. They couldnt decide that so they punted. But as maybe says, the issue gets far too much attention.

Leaving civil rights issues up to the states has always worked so well in the past.

I would argue that abortion rights fall under privacy rights, not civil rights. Just as you inferred in Post # 46.

As I have already said, not ideal or desired. I was desputing your arguement that abortion rights would be dead if RvW were overturned. Which, as I said, I do not believe will happen. You can never be sure with SCOTUS appointees. You need look no further than Souter to see where a staunch conservative appointed someone who was not  conservative leaning in his opinions, quite the opposite actually.

I agree, I don't even want to hear candidates talking about abortion one way or the other! "The govt." shouldn't be involved in that.
And if I lived in Nevada I'd vote for Angle just to "get rid" of Reid. It's good to get new people in office on a regular basis! They all stop listening to The People.
Look at Robert Bird, there are people who were born and died in W.V. while he was in office! That's not a "good" thing in my opinion.

Is it wrong that I really want to rape this woman?  Despite her being awfully ugly, I really really want to rape and impregnate her.  Shame I've had a vasectomy and can no longer impregnate anyone.
