Of course, Harper deserves all the credit for this because he ‘continued’ the policies of the liberal government cutting corporate taxes and the economic stimulus he was forced to implement or risk losing power having an election.

Need A Job? Try Canada, Where Hiring Is Booming And Home Prices Are Rising

Stubbornly high unemployment rates got you down? Not sold on the economic recovery? Look no further than America's polite neighbor to the north, where jobs numbers are surging and home prices have been rising steadily for nearly a year.

Yes, Canada's economic recovery is outpacing our own. In terms of sheer job creation, June saw Canada create jobs at a pace that was five times the rate predicted by economists, Bloomberg News reports. Canada added 93,200 jobs in June, while U.S. private employers added just 83,000.

Thanks to strong hiring in the service sector, Canada's unemployment rate fell to 7.9 from 8.1 percent, while America's unemployment rate came in at 9.5 percent in June, falling only because of a large exodus of Americans looking for work. All told, the U.S. lost 125,000 jobs in June because of a wave of Census layoffs.

Real estate prices tell a similar story…

Unemployment is going up in BC. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/british-columbia/story/2010/07/09/bc-unemployment-rate-drops.html
Canada economy is similar to US. Traditional productive economy is in a process of decay. There is an increasing number of paper pushers, managers, advertisers, sales people. The only advantage; Canada has better social safety system.  These short-term employment numbers do not show much of anything, they are used just for propaganda purposes. The business community (all the governments seem to care these days) needs to spread optimism. If somebody plans to move to Canada, better have a job offer in advance. The  system of employment prefers locals for references and all kind of certificates and union memberships.

The Canadian dollar is backed by the US dollar. Seriously.

~FR~
Our economy weathered the meltdown better overall, mostly due to the stricter regulations on the financial sector

I would love to live in Canada if I would be eligible for single payer health care. What are the requirements to legally immigrate there? Once there, can one eventually become a citizen?

You find all information at:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.asp

Canada immigration is mostly job related as opposed to family unification (as in US). You need to meet point requirement and you must have certain job skills. Family member can also sponsor close relative immigration. Marriage to a Canadian resident is the fastest option. The last is massively fraudulently used.
Process itself is rather simple. You can download the forms and then just mail them to Buffalo Canadian Consulate. In many cases interview is even not required.

I would let them come to Canada until the population doubled. I think it would be great if Canada had 50 million people. Of course Mr. Harper our friendly Canadian conservative Prime Minister would dismiss that idea completely.

Keep on dreaming but it would be very pleased to see Sarah Palin win the Republican/Teaparty nomination, maybe she can run with that Angle lady from Nevada when she loses to Harry Reid.

The moron, Harper and the rest of the Regressive Conservatives have no money for healthcare but they waste $1 billion when they could and should have done the G20 for at the most $300 million.

Ultimately Canada's economy is still tied to the US. When we most likely go back into recession ("back" used only in the most technical sense) Canada will follow.

I don't really know the specifics but in general the more money that you have and the more qualified you are to get a job, especially a job for which there is a shortage of qualified people, the more likely they are to accept you.

I did a search and came up with these hits which look good to get those specifics I was talking about.

Actually, they are much more tolerable now with global warming. And since it is continuing to get warmer now I think Canadian winters are going to be even more pleasant for most people in the future.

In which case Liberal Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau did a good thing when he switched to the metric system in order to diversify trade with European economies.

How much has the proportion of Canadas trade with the US declined since then? Metric system lmao. That really makes a difference.

Send that link to Obama. Maybe he will cut corporate tax rates here and stimulate our economy.
