Brain -> FDA allows unsafe drugs to be fed to livestock (7/10/2010 8:26:08 PM)

I hope this is not true but I think it is something people should aware of and investigate for themselves.

Of course, there will be always those who say there is too much government and too
much regulation.

FDA allows unsafe drugs to be fed to livestock

Friday, July 09, 2010 by: David Gutierrez, staff writer

(NaturalNews) The FDA continues to allow use of a dangerous livestock drug banned in 160 countries, including across Europe, China and Taiwan, even though the agency itself admits that the chemical is highly toxic to humans.

The drug in question is known as ractopamine, and it increases the body's synthesis of protein -- thereby causing animals to bulk up and yield more meat. Ractopamine is in the family of drugs known as beta-agonists, which contains many asthma drugs.

Yet ractopamine is so dangerous to human health that the FDA requires it to be labeled, "Not for use in humans. Individuals with cardiovascular disease should exercise special caution to avoid exposure. Use protective clothing, impervious gloves, protective eye wear, and a NIOSH-approved dust mask."

"Twenty-six regulatory authorities have extensively reviewed ractopamine data, and, based on stringent human food safety criteria, concluded it is safe for use in swine and cattle production. Since its first approval in 1999, ractopamine has been registered in multiple countries including Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, New Zealand, the Philippines, South Korea and the United States. The product has been used in well over 300 million swine worldwide, producing more of the quality lean meat that consumers desire for a healthy diet."

You really want me in this ?

A few years ago meat producers wanted to get the right to forego mineral supplement to hogs for the last six months or so before slaughter. The government would not let them do it, which is one of the very few things they have done for us.

You see when you feed hogs with grain grown on played out land, you must give them mineral suppements or they will die. You won't make any money. Ask any animal husbandry professional. This all proves my points about human health but that is beyond the scope of this post.

We are already eating a shitload of steroids, artifcial emzymes and who the hell knows what else.

Generally these things are metabolised in the livestocks' bodies. Their effect on the chamistry of the meat therefron derived has not been explored much, and I think for good reason. They don't want to know, and more importantly do not want us to know.

Sorry, I was just here.

There are two points the article seems to be making.

1. It's not safe for humans, how can it be safe for animals intended for human consumption?
2. The FDA's vetting process sucks.

1. I'm at a loss here.  If this were retained in fat, I would agree.  But I'm not sure since this promotes muscle mass, if it is.  Implying that one toxicity in one pathway (ingestion) is equivalent to another (ingestion in an animal, then ingestion by human) is ridiculous.
2. Agreed.

Wow, a whole 26, as against the 160 countries who have declared it unsafe.

Poor Wilbur,

Do you want a list of the things the FDA has approved and then turned around later and said "oops".

Why not? Theyve been allowing companies to sell us unsafe prescription drugs for years!

I don’t eat meat anymore. I don’t want any chemicals in my food and I don’t trust them either what they feed or how they treat or abuse animals. Eating meat with all the chemicals and crap they put in it is why we get Alzheimer’s and dementia. And farm animals, mainly for beef, contribute to global warming.

Nope, they are caused by anti-perspirants. (not a joke)

Thats why the French never get Alzheimer's. (joke) (well, sometimes a joke)

Alzheimer's and Diet: Good for Heart May Be Good for Brain

A diet rich in fruits and vegetables as well as omega-3 fatty acids may not only be good for your heart -- it may also reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease.

The dietary pattern is characterized by eating more salad dressing, nuts, tomatoes, fish, poultry, cruciferous vegetables, fruits, and dark and green leafy vegetables and lesser quantities of red meat, organ meat, butter, and high-fat dairy products .

yup

transdermal absorption greater than oral

"studies have found that aluminum absorbs better through the skin than orally. When using antiperspirants, one only applies very little aluminum to the skin. However, daily use results in chronic exposure to aluminum. One study has asserted that the use of aluminum based antiperspirants increases the risk of Alzheimer’s disease by 60%"

Good luck with that. Hmm, I can't help but wonder about all those wonderful chemicals in produce from run off, rain, or less than honest 'organic' growers.. I wonder how healthy that diet is too.. I mean to say that with a little reading you can find a number of different compounds that just don't come from plants. I wonder how the body and mind reacts to essentials not being there... Oh well..

Termyn8or -> RE: FDA allows unsafe drugs to be fed to livestock (7/12/2010 4:52:46 AM)

All I know is at the doc's the other day my BP was 140 over 70. That;s a 70 point spread which means I have the heart of a ten year old with a spread like that.

I tried, I tried really hard to get clean but I found it impossible. The only way is to go back to the farm. But the farm is just about out of business. The guy is 70. While he wants to die on one of his tractors, they no longer have the cows and chickens. It is not the same.

Tell you what though, they had a personal garden, in which they grew corn. One day I was a bit froggy I guess and just grabbed an ear. Got the shucks off and those hair things and just ate it. No cooking, no butter and pepper, nothing. It was great.

Backing up into the OP here though, if you think they give cattle poison, think of what they give us. They kill 250,000 people every year, and that is by AMA estimates. Wonder why so many are like me, holding a great reluctance to going to the doctor. It is simple fucking logic. I don't go until it is a 50/50 chance of dying. Then at least my odds aren't all that bad.

What impact do these poisons have on me ? Unknown. However I have this theory and I am waiting on an answer from someone about it, and can't draw any conclusions right now, but it is my belief that when you eat anything it goes into a vat of hydrochloric acid and is dissolved into it's component parts. It's called your stomach, and thereafter it goes through the upper inestine, and so on. That it is all broken down by acid said to be strong enough to eat your car up in an hour or so. How can anything survive that ? But that is for another post, if and when I get the information I need.

But the last word is, if you expect the FDA or any part of the government to work for you, how is the weather on Mars ?
