Any pictures of the bathmat floggers?  Sounds interesting!

Thanks,

Mark

Of course! These started as kind of a joke, but they work pretty well!

  • clothespins (an obvious answer and standard gear at any rate)
  • Electrical cords (most use nylon rope, but even that has weave texture; you can get perfectly smooth lengths of cord at a hardware store)
  • Toy handcuffs (many toy children's handcuffs are made of metal and can be quite sturdy, look for one without a safety latch in the cuff itself)

Plenty of rope, chain, clips, carabiners (locking and non), various sized dowels (caning sized to spreader bar sized), and eye bolts at your local hardware store or farm supply store. Help support your local businesses with your kink needs!

Great topic--

First, if you're looking for crops, avoid the leather shops if you're on a budget--tack shops are a great place to buy crops (in many designer colors, I might add) and also panic snaps for easily half what you'd spend in a leather shop.

For DIY:
I made all of my own chest harnesses out of bicycle tire tubing.  A bicycle tire tube cost aobut $3-7 dollars, and it's the same width as a leather harness.  At a craft shop, you can buy a snap attachment set (about $6) and with a leather punch ($5) the snap tool, a hammer and a couple of cock rings, you can make many harnesses in any design you like.  You can also buy studs and spikes and customize it however you like.

(I used to make them as gifts for friends--and with a little "tire magic" tire dressing, it looked like leather too! Vegan pervs loved 'em!)  Total cost to make a harness:  typically around $15.   If I had bought the same harness in a leather shop, it cost about $80-$120.  No one knew they were rubber until they got up close and actually felt it.  I found them to be very comfortable and almost no maintenance at all.

Tire tubes, both bicycle and truck tire, can also make great bondage cuffs.  Pop rivets work well--just know that if you pull too hard, you can stretch the rubber and pop the rivet right out.  Not for suspension, obviously.

Also: I have made dildo harnesses too, but due to the "stretch" factor, these weren't as successful.

Elc tape make home made things black and smooth or tape small objects under it for rougher touch. spender bars are cheap and easy to make home depot and 25 bucks gets you every thing you need. cheap dollar store belts make nice restrants but if you're going to collar some one you need a good collar.

MaxsGirl -> RE: BDSM on a budget (12/18/2010 4:53:21 PM)

Take you sub to Home Depot, and the kitchen aisle at Target.  Hit him/her with everything you find that looks fun.  I promise you'll get all kinds of lovely ideas. [:D]  Clothes pins, wooden spoons, rope, clips and clamps, etc. can all be found at Target or the like.  I found a big wooden paddle at Michael's craft store that is perfectly suitable for spanking a bottom, after being sanded and finished.

Also, check out this guy's YouTube channel.  I made a spreader bar based on his instructions.  It was super cheap, sturdy, and only took about a half hour to make.

Few thoughts from this innocent one:

Cling film / saran wrap
Parcel tape
Turkey baster
Budget shops occasionally have cheap padlocks
Nappies / diapers from larger chemists
Washing line chord
Potty
Dummy
Babies bottle
Candles

Ideas for cheap BDSM experiences
Send your sub to a lingerie shop and make them buy something that fits them. It's very erotic and can be very embarassing
Handcuff them in the passenger seat and go for a drive / describe what's going to happen to them
Secure your sub to bed/sink/bath/toilet etc, go out, ring your ansamachine leaving messages they can hear

Stretch wrap & duct tape from the Home Depot (or your favorite hardware store). For $15.00 you can have a lot of fun :)

This subject bring up the times when I have been in home depot, the dollar store  or any other store that has the additions to my toy collection. The thing is I am always worried about someone watching me and think that I am some sort of of perv (guilty) but I think those in the D/s world it seems are very creative in many ways. So it is no surprised that we can see the possibly toys in many things. It is fun to go shopping with other subbies .

tazzygirl -> RE: BDSM on a budget (12/19/2010 8:53:30 AM)

Dont forget the Good Will/Salvation Army shops. Any thrift store for that matter. Ties, rope, wooden spoons... grins

Buzzzz -> RE: BDSM on a budget (12/19/2010 1:17:35 PM)

I personnally like ebay....

igor2003 -> RE: BDSM on a budget (12/19/2010 1:44:23 PM)

My apologies if they have already been mentioned, but local Army/Navy surplus stores often have anything from gas masks to handcuffs at reasonable prices.

Michael75 -> RE: BDSM on a budget (12/21/2010 3:28:46 AM)

I bought a selection of bungee cords (the elastic things with hooks either end) at a car boot sale because I figured there are always times you would want them.

So far the longer ones have mostly been used as whips (doubled over obviously, those hooks don't look nice) and the rest as restraints. The right length will go in a figure of eight around a wrist/ankle each end.

allthatjaz -> RE: BDSM on a budget (12/21/2010 6:19:56 AM)

When we tried to sell our BDSM toys on ebay, they were removed. I managed to sell things like gas masks and a harness and I did get away with a Victorian ladies riding whip but the rest got turned down.
Some on scene sites have things for sale. Look out for a Mistress selling up her dungeon but stay well away from her butt plugs [;)]

S1L1 -> RE: BDSM on a budget (12/21/2010 7:01:52 AM)

@ allthatjaz:

You can sell on eBay -  but it has to be in the Adult Only category or it can not be described as BDSM/bondage toys.
eBay is a great place for low to mid-level toys, but for high quality items I would look to dedicated manufacturers.

SpiritedRadiance -> RE: BDSM on a budget (12/21/2010 7:50:40 AM)

to make cuffs  get a pack of 50 11/2 inch key rings and belt fabric from the craft store i spent 10 dollars total and have a pretty nice set of cuffs from them (dead weighted at 200 pounds and still intact by a friend,.

eastfill -> RE: BDSM on a budget (12/24/2010 4:38:38 PM)

I get lot of my stuff from www.casualkink.com If you ask for a discount they'll usually give you a 15% reduction.

I scored a fantastic vintage medical exam table at Salvation Army, complete with stirrups for $35 - they didn't even ask what I wanted it for, lol.

I've got so much crap from Thrift stores, including at least one of just about every vibrator ever made in the last 50 years, I've had to stop buying them cause I'm running out of room to store them - probably end up selling them on e-bay.

The latest thing was this weird corner chair that has a "winged" back, sections on either side at about a 45 degree angle to the center piece of the back, hard to describe, but I swear the thing was made for bondage.

One thing I haven't gotten yet is one of those round, "Papa-san" chairs, the folding kind, all kinds of interesting possibilities with that chair - they have them at Wal-Mart and Target, relatively cheap.
