then go get stuff done in Congress. You know...kinda of the main reason we Americans 'hire' all these guys to office in the first place....get stuff done!

They didn't get anything done the last time they had power, what makes you think this time will be any different?

I love election night, even though I wasn't to pleased with the way things turned out in 2008. I really would like to see Nancy Pelosi fly coach again when the dems lose the House..

I have it on very good authority that when Pelosi deigns to fly commercial she sits in first class while her staff rides in coach. Mostly she uses government planes.

Be well....

I have it very good authority that when Pelosi doesnt take her taxpayer provided luxury jet that has about 5x the capacity that any reasonable person needs she laces cable through her botox peaked eyebrows and onto the wings of a 747 and carries the rest of her entourage from coast to coast.

Personally, I hope the repubs get a slight advantage.  The country seems to run better when the white house and congress are controlled by 2 diff parties.  That way, noone can get a wild hair up their ass and just go cramming stupidity down the country's throat.

Actually, when there has been Republican control of both houses (Clintons second term, all but the last two years of GWB's term) economics were good...so that was independent of the POTUS' party.

When there has been Dem control of both houses...Nixon, Ford, Carter, GHWB, GWBs last two years and Obama so far, economics deteriorated. Bad news, independent of the Potus' party.

The only exception was when the Dems took control at the end of the Reagan administration, but that was the beginning of the slowdown that plagued the early GHWB years.

"It's the ECONOMY stupid!" James Carville
CNN just showed a bunch of candidates ads and they all mention "jobs" or "the economy."
Washington STILL doesn't get it.

No one, inc sanfran nan, is praying harder for the dims to keep the house than eric holder. The investigations into DOJ by a Rep-led House would be swift, frequent, and merciless.
As they should be.

I think you misunderstood me Willbe.  What I meant was when the POTUS is of one party and Congress (house and senate) are controlled by the other.  We were saying the same thing 2 different ways.

No, I understood your point just fine. I was showing that in fact things have been better under (the infrequent) Republican controlled Congress regardless of the party of the POTUS. When it was Democrat control with a GOP POTUS things were still shit.

fast reply

In the governors race here, candidate #1 is running ads saying that candidate #2 is a closet liberal democrat who gave money to "abortion" providers and supports gay marriage.  Candidate #3 is running an ad saying that candidate #2 can not be trusted because she did not support gay marriages.

I am voting for candidate #4.  I think.
