The article states that the victim was in the Houston area, and was a woman in her 60s.  There was one garbled statement from a neighbor that implies that she was married.  Her name was on the box, albeit misspelled, so she was the intended recipient, although it's possible her husband's name was on it too.

No indication that he was an oilman, and since his name may not have been on the box, no indication that he was an intended victim.  It was disguised as a box of chocolates, which doesn't sound like it was intended for a male.
