GOP hits Reid and others for raising money in Canada

Republicans spent Monday hitting several Democratic Senate candidates for raising money at a convention of trial lawyers in Canada.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (Nev.) and at least eight other Democratic Senate candidates were at a reception for the Committee for a Better Future on Sunday in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Why would they raise money in Canada? Where are they going to spend it? Just try using a Canadian dollar at a Target; they'll throw your ass out into the parking lot.

I like him but I would not give him money because he doesn’t need it - he has money. He needs to change the rules of the senate so he can get legislation passed because the Repugs filibuster everything .

I seem to recall Republicans doing this same stuff in each election. Most recently, in Iraq for John McCain. Where was the outcry among Republicans, of one of their own doing this tactic?

In the GOP eyes the GOP can do no wrong. 

I don't think anyone should be in a foreign country raising money for their own election or anyone's election.  It seems the job now of every elected official in this country is to raise money to stay elected instead of representing the people who voted them in.

I wonder if anyone has ever done a comparison of time spent actually doing the work of a Senator or Representative vs how much time they spend fund raising?

If the money comes from US sources, who cares where the convention was, other than the perception of not "buying American"? If contributions come from Canadian sources they are illegal and have to be returned. Or did they sneak in a law change I didnt see?
