Given the vast distances of space unless we can figure out a way of traveling at light speed or utilizing "worm holes" we won't be doing much space exploration at all. It's thousands of light years just to get outside of our own galaxy. That's one hell of a magic carpet ride isn't it?

And the window to get to Mars is only a few weeks out of the year due to it's differant orbit. It's just not worth the money or time to continue space exploration at this time until those problems are solved and that won't happen until thousands of years yet! The technology that we have now isn't a speck of sand on a mile long beach compared to what is needed. Human beings today probably couldn't even conceive of the technology needed for space exploration! We'd need to be able to keep a human alive for 1,000 years or more to cover just a fraction of the distance to distant galaxies. And, who would want to spend their whole existance in a space craft? What our "space program" is doing now isn't even child's play. What we're doing now really is a waste of time and a waste of money. We need to be headed in a totally differant direction looking for solutions to totally differant problems.
