i bought a really good training corset 2 months ago. after dedicated wear,i have gone from a 29.5 to 26.5 inch waist. i'm thinking of buying a new one, since i was told not to undo the bow. is there a way to draw in the corset in a safe manner? or am i just better off buying a new smaller one?

I'm confused. Are you wearing the corset fully closed, so that there is no gap remaining in the back of the corset? What do you mean by "undo the bow?"

yes, i wear it fully closed, and its become loose. i believe i can draw it tighter, but i'm not supposed to undo the lacing.

You may want to post the link to it? The corsets I know, have a row of clips on the front for easy access, and laces at the back, like shoes for tightness?

http://www.denisenadinedesign.com/Amethyst%20Corsets.htm

So you loosen the laces, put it around you, clip up the front, and get someone to tighten the laces at the back.

For extra tightness, you tie off the laces and get a metal hook to pull the slack out of each loop of the lace. Working your way down until you have *no* slack anywhere in the corset. It definitely puts the sensation into looking sensational :)

thank you, thats what i was wondering. since i'm on my mobile i cant post the link right this moment, but i was told not to undo the lacing at all. and if that was true, i would need a new corset and good ones are exactly cheap.

If this is a standard rear lacing/front busk corset, whoever told you to not undo the lacing doesn't know what they're talking about.  Removing/putting on a tight corset without loosening the laces first can damage or destroy the busk.

Don't skimp, a cheap corset is a unsexy torture device. It digs in and hurts. A "good" corset should mold around you and spread the squeeze evenly so you can wear it all night. If you really need tightness, get them made for you by someone local. They don't just look sexy, but they redirect your bloodflow so you think about it all the time.

i'm seriously considering getting one made when i get closer to my goal size which is 23 inches. i wore a cheap one recently for a photoshoot and i almost started crying because my waist is drawn in and to get it to fit, they pulled it so tight that the plastic bones were jabbing me all over. that was unheard of tourture to me. *shudders*

Here are instructions very different than the ones you got that follow stef's advice:
How to wear a corset

Relacing Instructions (with video)

If you don't want to try that, then could you perhaps contact where you got yours from and ask them?

it's easy to test. Get them to run a ceiling hook through a loop and lift your legs off the ground. If you don't know the size and your biggest worry is that you'll fart? You got a good corset :)

You're probably better off buying a new corset, and an easy way to tighten them without wallhooks or such is to have the laces come out in the middle of the back. There are plenty of sites that do made to order corsets, so you can usually find the occasional deal.

What size is your corset? And also, what brand?

If the laces in back are fully closed and you're able to hook/unhook the front busk to put it on, it sounds like it's WAY too big for you. If you're at around 26" now and want to go down to 23", I'd recommend going with a 22" or even a 20" pre-made corset if you can't quite afford the custom made option. You're waist reduction will be limited by your hip and ribs, and that's where the custom measured corset will allow you to acheive a smaller waist while not cinching too tight on the pelvic bones and ribs. There are decent options like Timeless Trends that sell for $99. There's also Axfords, and Vollers which are very good and Deadly Girlz. For custom options, try Meschantes Corsets.
