The only surprise is that anyone might be surprised at such an allegation - that the Lockerbie bomber was released under pressure from BP on account of its desire to get its Libyan oil deals signed, and the UK government - ("tough on terrorism, tough on the causes of terrorism", remember), portrayed that as the national interest.

Not surprised at the allegation, but I would be surprised if there is any connection. We'll see.
