tazzygirl -> Tea Party Bill Board (7/14/2010 4:00:53 PM)

I really had no clue what to title this, because its just so.. crazy.

So, apparently the Tea Party Movement in Iowa put up a billboard with Lenin, Hitler and Obama, linking the three with the phrase "socialsim".

quote:

The roughly 200-member tea party group had the original sign put up last week. It showed photographs of Obama, Nazi leader Hitler and communist leader Lenin beneath the labels "Democrat Socialism," "National Socialism," and "Marxist Socialism."

After the billboard drew sharp criticism by other state and national tea party leaders, members of the local group sought the change.

North Iowa Tea Party co-founder Bob Johnson said he and other leaders agreed with critics that the image of Obama between Hitler and Lenin was offensive. He said the images overwhelmed the intended message of anti-socialism.

"They are absolutely right in their criticism because the image of Hitler just totally wiped everything else and it misrepresents the tea party movement," Johnson said. "They were right from the standpoint that the image was not a positive reflection on the tea people."

Johnson said Hitler images are usually not allowed at North Iowa Tea Party gatherings.

Removal of the sign was welcomed by the American Gathering of Holocaust Survivors and their Descendants, a New York-based group.

The North Iowa Tea Party "acted properly in removing the grotesquely offensive sign which should never have been put up in the first place. Had they not acted to remove it they would have severely damaged the credibility of legitimate political causes they espouse," the group said in a statement. "We ask that political groups do not trivialize our suffering in the future by making false analogies with Hitler's horrendous crimes."

So, the sign has been covered over. But plans are being made by the same group that put up this sign to replace it with a Quote often attributed to Jefferson.........

quote:

"My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government."

Shouldnt they at least have researched that quote? I dont care that they placed the Obama billboard up. They are entitled to their opinions just as everyone else is. But i would think they would at least research a bit.

Ironic. The board says radical leaders prey on the fearful and naive.

What other line could better describe what tea baggerepublicans are doing and who they`re doing it to?

Ironic indeed. No less a Dim worthy than Paul Begala has said that, for the dims to limit their losses this fall, this election cannot be a "hope election", it has to be a "fear election".

The tea baggers would like to be portrayed as this spontaneous created group of fiscally concerned citizens. Those that are fail to realize how they are being manipulated.

It is brilliant marketing... You take a guy that is out of work, lost his home and you put up a picture of a black president and tell him that all of his problems can all be blamed on this guy.

No one wants to be held accountable for their own problems...Always blame it on someone else. It's effective only because it works.

I called my thread on B.com "The 3 Socialists" [8D]

Moronic Iowa radical Republican't rightards don't even know what Socialism is. So much for home schooling.

BoiJen -> RE: Tea Party Bill Board (7/15/2010 9:41:52 PM)

I gotta ask...why is that some people can't understand that the "National Socialist" party wasn't a "socialist" party....it was a "fascist" party? Just cuz the Nazis used the damned word "socialist" doesn't mean they really were. I mean...don't let history get in the way of political mud slinging.

You must be thinking of Bush and those speeches on the "terrorists" that were still coming after us in 2004.

This is the work of people who wish to discredit the tea party.

Of course there is that.   the GOP ruined the Tea Party.

Makes one wonder why the Dems are so anxious to deny their socialist philosophies.

(and the 25 point program includes several socialist tenets)

Because Dems aren't Socialist? Only Socialists are Socialists. Like me. Not that I would expect you to have even the slightest notion of what differentiates Socialism from regulated Capitalism.

And I suspect the concept of Libertarian Socialism would cause an aneurism in your head.

Are you saying the article is wrong and that the North Iowa Tea Party co-founder Bob Johnson didnt say those things and that the Tea Party had no part in putting up that sign, in taking down that sign and never made the statement "acted properly in removing the grotesquely offensive sign which should never have been put up in the first place. Had they not acted to remove it they would have severely damaged the credibility of legitimate political causes they espouse," and arent saying they dont want to waste the money and will be putting up a new sign in a few days according to the Bob Johnson mentioned before?

Oh please show me your proof on this!

It's not about what the socialist party stands for, it's about making Obama look bad. Most people agree that Hitler was a monster, so when they attack someone they use "he's another Hitler" in order to turn others against them. It was stupid in the past when they compared Bush to Hilter and it is stupid today. It reminds me of the idiots on the left who keep screaming "racist" at the right. They know it is a hot word and people will pay attention when you say it. So they use to discredit others.

housesub4you -> RE: Tea Party Bill Board (7/16/2010 5:36:37 AM)

That sounds like something Hitler would say, you must be a racist socialist fascist commie American on unemployment [:)]

Sanity -> RE: Tea Party Bill Board (7/16/2010 7:26:19 AM)

I don't think theres any denying that the Obama regime leans towards Socialist, and the polls prove me out on this. And I don't think the Tea Partyrs in question are saying that Obama is Hitler in the same way the Dems tried to say Bush was Hitler, I think the message is that Socialists move further and further towards extremism as time goes on in order to try to achieve their unattainable vision of Utopia. And I think thats accurate - look whats happening in Venezuela today, for example.

In other words a nation like the United States won't become a totalitarian nightmare overnight, it will happen little by little if it happens, and their message is that we are headed in that direction, and I would concur.

We're asked to give government freedom after freedom in the name of health care or security, Obamas smoking tax is one example (out of many) of this. Give up your Liberty, as government knows best... but its not just Obama and his radical associates - they are merely signposts along the way.

So what has Obama done that's socialistic, rather than catering to interest groups who are funding his party, then? Which industries has he nationalised? How has he extended social security and increased taxation on the people with all your country's money? Am I to take it that the evil Lieberal Media Conspiracy has refused to reveal that all of this stuff is going on?
