You aren't alone, I wondered why Randy Bachman would be saying anything about Obama [:D]

Actually Chretien wasn't a whack job, he reformed our election funding laws to get the major lobbyists out of it, his government consistently ran a surplus, and the economy was doing very well on his watch. He may have sounded like a whack job, but that was partially due to a disability, and a heavy dose of play acting. I worked with a neice of his, and she said he spoke much more clearly away from the microphones. He also plays a mean trombone apparently (the horn player in my brother's band had a gig giving him lessons years back). All that and the Shawinagin Death Grip too!!

However you cannot deny that if he were a criminal in a movie, he'd be the getaway driver & provide the comic relief.

I wasnt around for most of Chretien, however Bouchard is another one, stark staring batshit bonkers
Edited as the reigning typo queen takes the afternoon off

Lucylastic -> RE: Bachmann: Obama Turning Our Country into A Nation Of Slaves (7/16/2010 12:36:25 PM)

Hard to believe Americans elected the most unAmerican POTUS since Woodrow Wilson.

See my 1st response...post #2 in the thread, our present PM is a certified whack job..he is a dyed in the wool creationist who believes the world is only some 6000 years old, however our politicians don't wear their religion on their sleeves up here as much as they do down south for some reason. And yes the whole Reform/Alliance party is rife with them (Did you know the idiots actually called their party the Canadian Reform Alliance Party for a while....think of the acronym[:D]).

Another reason our right-wing whackos don't act up so much is because the Canadian populace is generally a lot further to the left than Americans, so they have to tread carefully or they will get tossed (and with a minority government that can happen at the drop of a hat). We like our fiscal conservatives, but we love our social policies very liberal.

CAPITALISM is turning the US into a nation of slaves. Obama needs to end the wars overseas and support Arizona instead of condemning them. He also needs to realize that the US can't successfully compete in the global economy without single payer health care.

Yeah, too many people are against this current healthcare bill. Even Scott Brown said he was for a national healthcare bill just not "this bill."
As for "competition" when has the U.S. *ever* competed (against) foreign countries?
All we do is keep *helping* them! That's not "competition" or "capitalism."
And the pols try to tell us that they're "helping to *develope* overseas markets!"
Third and fourth world countries will *never* be "markets" for our products!  Those same pols are in the pockets of big cos. that want to outsource your job to those countries where they pay $5-$10 per day! Gee, I wonder how many Cadillacs bongoland will be buying from us?

You think? I am not sure I agree......

Arpig -> RE: Bachmann: Obama Turning Our Country into A Nation Of Slaves (7/16/2010 1:37:05 PM)

The Reform/Alliance party made to opposition but were unelectable until they moved left and merged with the rump of the Progressive Conservatives to form the present conservative party, and even then they have only managed to form minority governments, more people voted for the Liberals & NDP than for the Conservatives, there are more Liberal & NDP members of parliament than there are Conservatives. It is the split between the Libs & NDP in the left wing vote that allowed Harper to squeak into power. We haven't elected a right-leaning majority since Mulroney. The Grits have held power for the majority of our history and are the only party to survive intact from Confederation...so Yeah I think we are as a people leftist.

Hard to believe you said that. I think you’ve been listening too much to Rand Paul and Sarah Palin. I suppose you agree with them that Obama is un-American because he is “too tough” against BP.

Rand Paul calls President Obama 'un-American' for his criticism of BP over oil spill (video)

At this point, Paul was ready to get the story behind him and start once again riding the populist wave that helped him gain the Republican nomination. Unfortunately for Paul, today he expounded on how his libertarian beliefs affect his view of the Gulf oil spill. Paul criticized the Obama administration's tough stance against British Petroleum (which many liberals claim is not tough enough) and even called criticism of BP "un-American." Paul alse seemed to excuse BP from any fault saying that sometimes accidents just happen. Finally, Paul seemed opposed to any additional regulation on offshore oil drilling companies.

There is nothing that Paul says here that is incorrect or particularly outrageous. He doesn't say that Obama is un-American, he said that "boots on BPs throat" SOUNDS un-American, and it unquestionably does. Obama continuously makes statements that sound un-American, from apolgizing for justifiable actions we have taken to the demonizing of business, capitalism, and the wealthy. It is up to the individual to decide whether continual un-American sounding statements make him un-American, or just misguided.

DomKen -> RE: Bachmann: Obama Turning Our Country into A Nation Of Slaves (7/16/2010 11:36:25 PM)

Everything Paul says is incorrect and this was particularly outrageous.

It would be decidedly un-American to continue allowing BP to despoil the land and waters of the US without consequences. We are a nation of, for and by the people not the Corporate State of America no matter how much you might wish it were otherwise.

Pretty good for you, except for the "without consequences", which was never in doubt, despite Blowboy's grandstanding.

Never in doubt?

Why don't you head up to Alaska and check with the people who never got made whole by Exxon. Exxon has spent the last 20 years spending who knows ho much to avoid paying damages to those whose lives they destroyed.

The President has made sure that at least 20 billion will be available to recompense those Gulf residents. It certainly dwarfs the paltry 75 million that is the cap under existing law.
