For those who don't link PaHunk's link, here is the Financial Times article the statement is buried in (second paragraph, below the graph of President Obama's approval numbers) http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/434315b2-8ea6-11df-8a67-00144feab49a.html As for the contention that an attack would automatically improve his numbers, Shapiro contends that only an attack could do this because it would give the President a chance at "demonstrating that he is a leader who can command confidence." I have seen no evidence that our President is competent to do any such thing. At least not without a practice swing, first, and a do-over. I don't even like to speculate on a successful attack, but the apparent strategy of this administration to rely on the terrorists fucking up is only going to go so far.
