Glasgow -> Best Bad Movie Serieses (7/15/2010 8:00:18 PM)

I enjoy watching movie series. So far I've watched all the Nightmare on Elm Street, Jason, Mad Max, and Halloween movies. I'm on Children of the Corn 6 right now (out of 8 or 9).

Does anyone know of any nice long movie series? Preferably with more than three movies. Any genre will do.

James Bond movies. Oh, come on, sure, Bond is awesome and all, and the stories are kind of amusing, but let's not pretend they were GOOD movies. We all know better. ;)

Jackie Chan flicks too. Yeah. No one can even begin to tell me that they're good movies. But I still have almost the entire collection. :) (Okay, Who Am I, was actually pretty good)

Planet Of The Apes. The original flick and second sequel "Escape From The Planet Of The Apes" were may favorites. Tim Burton's remake was okay - the makeups were very good.

Saw: after the first two, you knew what was gonna and the idea got a little bit old. It all got a lot more twisted later on. I still cant help watching them every time theres a new one out. (and i do cover my eyes if it gets too bad [:D] )

I know what you did last summer.. First one was ok, the rest, eh. Could have done without.

DesFIP -> RE: Best Bad Movie Serieses (7/16/2010 9:47:48 AM)

We came across one of the earliest Bond movies the other day. It was frightening how racist it was.

Anyway, any series tends to get bad the longer they drag it out.

Oh and the plural of series is series. This is a plural that has no singular form.

MadameMarque -> RE: Best Bad Movie Serieses (7/16/2010 10:00:51 AM)

May I suggest renting miniseries? And do they have to be bad? (By the way, I thought the Mad Max series was great!)

I'm thinking of some of the great British mystery miniseries, such as Prime Suspect , with Helen Mirren (you have to start with the first multi-episode story); Cracker, with Robbie Coltrane; Robson Greene, first in the Touching Evil series (not the movie with Charleton Heston, no), then in Wire In The Blood (not Wire). They're all great, dark stuff.

But if you want your head to spin and fly off, watch closely: MPD Psycho (Multiple Personality Detective), a short series directed by Takashi Miike, that somehow made it on to Japanese television.

Scream-1- how ever many of them there were.

Starship Troopers 1-3 (although I am a cult fan of the first one. It was so bad that it was good. [:D])

Friday the 13h parts 1-12 (After the first two didn't you just know the pretty little 90 pound white girl in 6 inch heels would be the one to kill him.......again?)

Mel Gibson!  WTF?  What happened to him?  Was he always like that?  Is he going senile in his old age?  Is that what his problem is?

Movie series, I love movies, I watch tons of them, I should be able to come up with something.  I saw Toy Story III last night and it was damn good!  Has anyone mentioned Harry Potter?  Do they have to be scary?  I can't think of anything else right now.

Well generally I prefer the cheesy side of things. Toy Story 3 was AMAZING, and I don't think we can call Harry Potter bad.

Right now I'm getting a hold of the Puppet Master movies. I think Friday the 13th is next, and I totally forgot about Scream.

I knew I was in the wrong when I typed 'serieses'. But I thought, eh, it's the Internet. So I left it as-is.

DarlingSavage -> RE: Best Bad Movie Serieses (7/16/2010 3:09:29 PM)

Yeah, I'm interested in that Puppet Master series, now.  Although, I have a feeling I'm going to be covering my eyes a lot!

Moonhead -> RE: Best Bad Movie Serieses (7/16/2010 3:27:06 PM)

It's very depressing just how dreadful the Phantasm series gets after the first couple of films.

Glasgow -> RE: Best Bad Movie Serieses (7/16/2010 3:30:42 PM)

I think it's pretty depressing how bad most series get past the first few movies. Hell, even Star Wars ate it after a while. I'm thinking that LotR and Harry Potter did pretty well, although I've only seen a couple Potter movies. I actually can't think of many good long series, now that I'm trying to.
