You know what's crazy about this news (and all the hysteria's coming up on the conspiracy sites so far) is that EHRs were mandated back in 2008, and that would include your height and weight already. I'm more pissed off about how it (BMI) was kind of bogus to begin with. Another crazy thing is how this blowup happened within the last 24 hours. Site after site has it, almost all of them referencing CNS (that's Bozell's operation), or plagiarizing CNS. They use the same damn words. It really is an echo chamber out there. I'm of two minds on EHRs; it would be a real convenience for me to have this since I see subspecialists, but I've never seen large organizations with perfect data security. I've had 4 companies notify me about data leaks in the last 3 years, and all were credit card companies or banks. I also think it'll never come to happen due to the size and complexity of the task.

Now what's really funny in that regard is that some of the folks who will rant the loudest and longest about that scenario are the same ones who get apoplectic about the DoD having 40+ different accounting systems and go "why can't it all be unified right this minute?!" "We can send a man to the moon, how come we can't get a unified DoD accounting system?!!" Just remember how long it took, and how much money, to send a man to the moon.

Anyone have a real source? I know there are hundred pushing this as Thorny said, but really... nothing from the actual bill or concrete evidence.

Its not so much Hunky, its all the other people that are taking this as gospel and shitting themselves and getting themselves all worked up over hearsay, I did a search and the blogs and some of their comments are more worrying to me. I guess you cant fix stupid, but people have no common sense, and that seems to be their rationale for spreading this stuff, it just doesnt matter about truth, just the number of people they can piss off and scare.

Hunky... Ive done a search for Obesity, BMI Body Mass Index and Individual Obesity rating on the healthcare bill, and several other bills, and can find nothing so, if you have the info in its proof from the gov site, then show it, otherwise your links are BS Now should you find it hidden in a bill, I will apologise without a problem
