it dawns on me that while i have seen many people distinguish themselves from masochism (i.e. "im not a painslut... "), i have yet to encounter an example of the converse. thus the query- are any of you masochists?

I don't consider myself a masochist but I enjoy sadism and have a definite preference for sadistic men.

I'm aroused by his hand alone. I don't find other aspects of pain that do not stem from him to be remotely appealing.

It must be an extension of him by his authority. Meaning, he's instructed the individual to hurt me. However, my arousal is not from the sensation he impresses upon me, but through my owner's use of me instead.

No, it's the result of mental conditioning by my previous partners.

1) do you get arousal strictly from pain inflicted by another person, or can it come from any source (ex: shutting finger in door)?

I can get all glowy and spacey from pain, or feel primal and animalistic from playfighting, or have my mind go blank from certain kinds of pain, but I usually only get sexually aroused/turned on in specific circumstances.  There have been exceptions occasionally, though.  In non-BDSM contexts, I use the same pain management techniques (breathing/etc.) as when I bottom to process the pain in a more pleasant way.  This applies to getting shots/blood drawn, dental work, doing martial arts, and so forth.  Usually a stubbed toe or a finger caught in a door hurts too suddenly to be prepared for it, so I can't process it as well.  A healing bruise can feel nice, even if I just got it from being a klutz rather than from a cane or paddle or some such.  I bonked my head once during a scene when I was already very floaty, and just giggled and the glow went up a few watts.  I had a nasty goose-egg for a few days afterward, but it didn't hurt at all at the time.

I usually only get sexually aroused by pain if it is done by someone who I have sexual chemistry with in the first place.  When I played casually as a bottom in the past, I specifically negotiated that I would yellow if I got too turned on, and did so a couple of times.  I don't want to get turned on by someone who I'm not romantically involved with, or seeking to develop that connection.  I don't want them touching my pussy if we're not dating.

Yes, but I felt completely differently when that happened, and I don't think it's correlated at all.  I started out with a fairly low pain tolerance when I first tried bottoming, and was able to take more as I  experimented with breathing and other techniques.  How the warmup is done, how I feel about the other person, and what kind of toy/tool/technique is used makes a big difference.  If there's no warmup, or the strikes come so closely together that I can't process them, I'm kind of a wimp.  I can handle thud better than sting in general, but there are some exceptions.

OP - Are you searching other submissive profiles? If not, maybe that's why you don't see it listed much. At least half the profiles I look at mention craving/needing pain (submissive females primarily).

I do find it strange there's nowhere in CM's system to indicate you enjoy pain though. It's one of the biggest kinks on this site, after bondage and control.

I only get aroused by taking pain from a dominant.  I have to have a connection with that person.  I have to trust them, and accept pain from them.  No, I was not physically abused at any time.  I come by my submission to the dominant woman honestly.

Whew... thanks Bita, once again I was feeling like the lone freak in the pack who had reactions that were at odds with the rest

If you take a peak at my profile, I state specifically that I'm a pain slut. Haha most who know me know this all too well. To answer your questions...

Pain from stubbing my toe or paper cuts or breaking arm or spraining my ankle or toothaches...those all suck. I find absolutely no pleasure in them, save for a tiny bit of excitement from the attention I might get. (I'm a total attention whore.)

Even pain inflicted upon myself isn't very much fun. Just knowing the fact that this sadistic mother fucker wants to hurt me and make me cry gets me going. And I have no idea why. Maybe the primal fear and savagery involved, or the lack of control over it all.

And yes, I have been physically abused in my life, but this occurred a while after I discovered my interests in bdsm and started experimenting with pain play...and mostly due to inexperience. So yeah lol...I doubt my masochist stems from any kind of abuse.

Hope this helps [:)]

I'm totally a painslut. Yes, I think of myself as a masochist.
1. Yes, I only get turned on if the pain inflicted is by a guy I'm attracted to. The time I accidentally sliced my finger preparing dinner it was scary and upsetting. I wasn't at all turned on.
2. It needs to come from someone I have feelings for.
3. Yes, my mother's physically abusive.

Only from pain inflicted by another person, all other pain I say "OW"

2) do you automatically get arousal from pain inflicted by another, or need it come from someone you have feelings for?
No, i dont need it to be someone i have feelings for but I have found that my levels are higher with my Master who I am in love with

3) were you physically abused (without consent) at any point in your life?
I was open hand slapped for doing things wrong when i was a kid but i dont classify that as being physically abused....do I think that has made a difference to me being a masochist now......definately not.

Violentseternal -> RE: Do any of you identify as a masochist? (7/30/2010 7:04:40 AM)

Ohhh yes, i very much do consider myself part masochist (sadomasochist)   its always been a deep part of myself, and though i hate certain labels, but i really like the word 'masochist/masochism'  i very much enjoy many forms of pain, for pleasure as well as punishment. though given i am masochist, my Owner has found he has to punish me psychologically as threating a slap or spanking just doesnt cut it lol
