While on the Isle of Statia my coworker and I thought it would be a great idea to go lobster hunting at low tide on night . Having come up with this bright idea after being at the bar for 5 hours of non stop drinking . We thought we where the smartest guys in the all the islands . Low tide was at 2:30 am and the bar closed at 3:am . We started for the beach at 3:20 having to take 20 minutes to figure out who would drive after 7 hours of drinking . Since neither of us could find where the key went we walked . With the flash lights we had we could see the red eyes of the lobsters all over the reef . Putting on our trunks fins and snorkels we made our way to the water . At waist deep and just yards away from the reef all the little eyes disapeared . Being drunk enough to wonder where our targets went we stopped and searched around . It only took a few minutes to see the rather large fin slicing through the water over the coral . It took 7 hours and a lot or rum to get as drunk as we where . It took less than 20 seconds to get back to shore and sober up . We where told later that the tiger sharks like to cruise the reefs and feed on the lobsters . I spent 6 months on that island and 4 of those being called lobester boy by the islanders .
