Well I first heard the story on radio but by the evening on Fox news, the actual NEWS part not the opinion pieces, they were already backing off and saying the rest of the tape might change the perspective of the story. Discussing how she had later changed her tune and adjusted her actions. Funny though how folks will buy this story as the media not covering the whole story, But the guys the Tea Party does confront and toss out don;'t count for anything. the signs they brought continue to be touted as evidence of the racism when the rest of the story shows that they were asked to leave because of their sign and shunned in the movement.

Archer, when you consider that the news covers tea party marchers with signs depicting President Obama as an African witchdoctor, comparing him to Hitler (who was guilty of genocide) or signs proclaiming that "this time we came without guns" and you want to say that the teaparty is NOT racist, advocating the violent overthrow of the government? What about the fact that a large number of tea party members are anti gay rights, anti abortion, anti civil liberties and that is just to name a few of their extreme views. I have seen more racist type signs in crowds of Tea Partiers EVEN ON FOX NEWS than I have seen signs that are just protesting the points they want raised.

I covered the witchdoctor signs and the Hitler signs in another post with Owner I'm not going through it again here. The "this time we came without guns", could just as easily be response to the protester in AZ who showed up with his AR15 (happened to be a black man as I recall). You keep wanting to make it about racism, the LIE that there are more signs that are racial than are not is bull even Owner admits that the racists are a minority. Now I don't doubt that YOU see racism in every sign they put out. Gay Rights, Abortion etc are views I don't share with many conservatives. that does not change the shared idea that Pork and Higher Taxes, and Deficit Spending are things we share a dislike for in Government. I've never been a party line kinda guy. But then again according to The Hill http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/polls/90541-survey-four-in-10-tea-party-members-dem-or-indie "The national breakdown of the Tea Party composition is 57 percent Republican, 28 percent Independent and 13 percent Democratic, " Hardly the monolithic breakdown that a racist group would reflect. In fact from a recent LA Times (I know such a staunch republican paper) from April 5 2010 A new Gallup Poll out this morning of 1,033 finds nothing fringe about self-proclaimed Tea Party adherents; they are slightly more likely to be employed, male and definitely more conservative. But otherwise Gallup's Lydia Saad writes, "their age, educational background, employment status, and race -- Tea Partiers are quite representative of the public at large."

I am glad she was vindicated, although her initial statement could be seen as nothing other than a racist attitude, the context of the rest of the speach showed how she shifted her thoughts and adjusted her actions. The selective editing in the original sucked balls.

I disagree having grown up on military bases where racism was at least a little less than the surrounding communities, and then spent two years in Rural Alabama where in 1984 they were still protesting for more black teachers at the local public school. I actually recognized that I was developing some racist thoughts and perspectives based on the exposures I was having. I worked and dropped them in a couple years after moving away from Alabama into TX (yeah I know Ha ha ha far less racist there, LOL) but the truth was the exposure to minorities in TX spanned social and economic strata. The exposure in Alabama was limited when it came to blacks in any social strata other than poor and rural. Racism is learned and as such it can be unlearned.

I hope the farmer got the help he merited. I hope she can work somewhere using whatever skills she has in an unpoliticized environment. I hope one day politicians of all stripes learn that they are servants of the people, not of their ambitions. I hope that one day the media will cease to represent special interests and report facts in an unbiased manner. I hope one day the differences in people will be celebrated, not used to divide us. You characterize your experience as "developing some racist thoughts". That implies that you were not fundamentally a racist to start with. While experience may have led you to condsider changing your behavior, you always recognized that it would be wrong, so you ultimately did not. Also, my proposition was "Once a racist, always a racist". I don't necessarily support the reverse of the proposition "Once not a racist, never a racist". I think traumatic events that can be blamed on another race can easily turn someone against the entire race. I just dont think that there is an ephipany in the other direction.

I saw the full speech, instead of just the excerpt shown on Brietbart. What they showed was extremely misleading... This lady and what she said in full context shows a person who has the emotional wherewithal to challenge her prejudices with knowledge. It is unfortunate that as her reward for stretching to grow more as a human being and to share that with others, she was sacked... Very unfortunate

Very unfortunate What wasnt misleading was the reason Bretibart posted it in the first place. Not over what she said, over the reaction of the NAACP crowd. You might notice that was the title of his piece, not racism in the USDA.
