I'm not really surprised if it's true or not.  It's a tactic both ends of the news spectrum take.

Screaming racism tends to get people fired up because it's one of the most heinous insults one can have lobbed at them.  -Shrugs.-

Yea, that's what I was thinking also. Kinda like comparing (insert name here) to Hitler. People know its a hot button that will get others all worked up.

and no one knows it better than Mary Francis Berry:

"Tainting the tea party movement with the charge of racism is proving to be an effective strategy for Democrats. There is no evidence that tea party adherents are any more racist than other Republicans, and indeed many other Americans. But getting them to spend their time purging their ranks and having candidates distance themselves should help Democrats win in November. Having one’s opponent rebut charges of racism is far better than discussing joblessness."

You know, Mary Francis....that ultra conservative former Chair of the Civil Rights Commission?

Why do you think that particular strategy is so effective?
In your quoted statement you will note that she does not say demopubs are racists just republicrats tea bagers and many americans...maybe the race thingie is gaining traction because where the "rubber meets the road" there is traction.

Yes, Im sure by "many Americans" she meant independents.

Maybe its gaining traction because its the only way to distract from what a total disaster this Administration is.

Summer here has not been as bad as last year.

Last year we had 3 small riots with in weeks.

This year- none.

Well perhaps this administration could start another war...do you think that might help their chances?

No, because they dont have a chance in hell of prosecuting it correctly.

What constitutes prosecuting a war correctly?

This shit didn't need an expose to be obvious. The day after Obama won the democratic nomination, the lefter side of American politics has desperately needed the race card and played it at every opportunity, and invented opportunity when it didn't exist. Bullshit aside, normal Americans don't go around with a Palin avatar - which means you have about as much clue what flies with them as Obama and Palin do.

I swear, leave this place for a few months and come back, it's the same rabid political bullshit with no common sense attached. I think I'll go back to my own advice, fuck more and argue less. It's been working great the last few months.

<---------Notice the word under Sarah,sparky.

The 1st racy thing that happened was glenn beck calling Obama a racist with a hatred for white people.It`s been down hill ever since.

Obama knocked it off his shoe like the shit you just posted.

There has been an attempt to inject race into politics,but not by dems or the left.

And lots of fake and crybaby complaints.

One of the phoniest being the claim that no one can criticize Obama policy without being called racists.That`s complete manufactured cry wolf bullshit.

Name one legit Obama critic that`s been called racist?

We know the reason why you guys are doing this.It`s because the right has nothing to offer but this.

And these fucking clowns say the Left is running around panicked............don't see it.  Seems the right wing nuts are running around planting alotta bullshit stories, or nefariously concocting what it aint for real ones,  they havent any issues to discuss, or solutions to them. So they monger fear.  Nothing new in that plan, neither.

Did you expect anything different?

These are the same tactics used against Clinton.

Only with Clinton there was some meager substance.

Now they are forced to make up nonsense like the whole birther thing.

But I guess that's the sacrifice we all have to make.

There is a time-honored but quite possibly apocryphal story concerning a meeting Eugene Talmadge had with his re-election committee. Eugene, vexed at his opponent, told his people to spread the rumor that the man fucked pigs.

"But, but, but, no one," said an aide, "will believe that".

"Of course not". came the reply. "I just want to hear the denials".

Plus ca change...

One of the reasons so many of us vote R is that dims really have no idea how to answer that.

Perhaps you missed this:

Pick one of Obama's conservative critics, Mr. Ackerman wrote, 'Fred Barnes, Karl Rove, who cares – and call them racists.' "

Oh they didn't miss it, Truck. They are just prepared to go to any lengths not to talk about it. That probably includes calling somebody a racist for raising the subject. [:D]

TheHeretic -> RE: Journolist (7/22/2010 8:17:41 AM)

Speaking of Fox News, JLF, it seems there was also a discussion among these fine, upstanding representatives of the media as to whether the gov't shouldn't just have the FCC yank their license and shut them up that way.

mnottertail -> RE: Journolist (7/22/2010 8:26:52 AM)

again, since brietbart is central to these accusations, it is real fucking doubtful until actual verifiable proof surfaces. this is as suspect as the usda thing.

TheHeretic -> RE: Journolist (7/22/2010 8:32:21 AM)

Where are you getting the Breitbart connection, Mnot? Tucker Carlson is the one putting these out. And I'm not seeing any of the reporters whose posts are involved claiming they are forgeries.

mnottertail -> RE: Journolist (7/22/2010 8:50:32 AM)

Read your own article. You're the OP, or did I miss it?

And why should anyone being talked about deny or confirm this?  They're journalists, it's good publicity, they will have articles to write the rest of the Obama term about this.

I would let the pressure build the whacko talk whack, and then come in with both feet....what a heyday!!!!!!

And they could be guilty, so what?  Karl Rove turned buttfucker or what?  He can't take his own shit?  Well, I don't listen to any of this horseshit, sensational headline then article going on to intimate and infer shit with nothing to back it.

Same for TV news.

I'm an NPR guy, closest we get to all views.

TheHeretic -> RE: Journolist (7/22/2010 8:59:07 AM)

Breitbart gets a quote in the linked article, Mnot, and I'm sure his Big Journalism outlet will be all over this, but the source is Tucker Carlson and Daily Caller.
