Brain -> Obamas man of faith has dual roles (7/21/2010 10:46:47 PM)

I'm so sick and tired of the right wing attacks on Obama calling him a Muslim.

Obama's man of faith has dual roles

Joshua DuBois melds his higher calling with one to help the nation's highest office: He bridges religious groups and sends the president his daily BlackBerry devotional.

"Reporting from Washington — The young minister's alarm goes off at 6 a.m., time for his own devotional and the one he will send to the president of the United States.

This particular morning, Joshua DuBois meditates on the disciple Peter's first letter to the early church. The text he prays over and e-mails to Barack Obama half an hour later is about something else.

It's a private start to the day for the president and the pastor, a spiritual BlackBerry session they guard carefully...."

"As it happens, his particular gift is in need at the White House.

Obama hasn't had a pastor for two years, since he had to answer for a controversial speech by his last one, the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr.

I looked at the link and I didn't see anything about him being a muslim? Are you sure you put the right link in your OP?

I'm pretty sure the guy's Christian since that's what he said.  Why lie about your religious beliefs?

Uh... OP, have you actually read this article? I don't think the word "Muslim" even appears in it. It's just an article about how the President accomdates his need for religion in his life.

Didn't read the article, don't really care what he is.

HOWEVER.... what's it to you ? Whether he is a Christian, a Muslim, a Buddhist ? You think people who believe in God are stupid, you hate religion, you constantly post about religion needing to be abolished or some such nonsense, you rag on people who believe in God, you think religion is the root of all evil. So what do you care ? Seriously, the belief in a higher power, God, diety is a joke to you, so what does it matter what diety they affiliate him to. A nod is as good as a wink to a blind horse.

Obama believes in God, he is affiliated with a religion. That right there should be enough to make you think he is inferior. What difference does it make to  * you * what they call him.
Religion and those who ascribe to a faith are bad. Ergo: Obama is bad.
Relgion and those who believe are responsible for the ills of the world. Ergo: Obama is a co respondent in the perpetuation of the ills.

PS: I am using " God " loosely in this post, to refer to any diety.

I'm not familiar with the OP, beyond that he is making a baseless accusation of this article. However, the article does firmly establish that Obama is a religious man. So if the OP truly does loathe the religious, he's backing the wrong horse.

Brain, nothing personal but you're just not that good when it comes to American Politics. You miss a lot.
I wouldn't be that good at Canadian Politics either.
It's like you're working on all four cylindars but, the engine has eight cylindars.
How about enlightening us with some Canadian Politics instead?

I asked him about that...he said Obama is really an athiest and just lied about being a christian because he knew that was what they wanted to hear.

It's called cognative dissonance.
