Boy, it is just one thing after another, isn't it?

House panel charges Rangel with ethics misdeeds

quote:

WASHINGTON – A House investigative committee on Thursday charged New York Rep. Charles Rangel with multiple ethics violations, a serious blow to the former Ways and Means chairman and an election-year headache for Democrats.

The committee did not immediately specify the charges against the Democrat, who has served in the House for some 40 years and is fourth in seniority. The charges by a four-member panel of the House ethics committee sends the case to a House trial, where a separate eight-member panel of Republicans and Democrats will decide whether the violations can be proved by clear and convincing evidence.

The timing of the announcement ensures that a public airing of Rangel's ethical woes will stretch into the fall campaign, and Republicans are certain to make it an issue as they try to capture majority control of the House. Speaker Nancy Pelosi had once promised to "drain the swamp" of ethical misdeeds by lawmakers in arguing that Democrats should be in charge.

Its about time.

The investigation of Rangel has focused on:

_His use of official stationery to raise money for the Charles B. Rangel Center for Public Service at City College of New York.

_Whether he had the Ways and Means Committee consider legislation that would benefit donors to the Rangel Center at the same time the congressman solicited donations or pledges.

_Preservation of a tax shelter for an oil drilling company, Nabors Industries, which has a chief executive who donated money to the center while Rangel's committee considered the loophole legislation.

_Use of four rent-controlled apartment units in New York City, when the city's rent stabilization program is supposed to apply to one's primary residence. This raises the question of how all the units could be primary residences. One was a campaign office, raising a separate question of whether the rent break was an improper gift.

And apparently he's none too happy about it:

Charlie ducking Luke Russert

He had a great run but it`s over.

Good luck Charlie.

A great run indeed. I'd love to see his Costa Rican bank account.

If it were a Muslim terrorist and he got any valuable information, it would rise above all his other accomplishments for sure. Fucking crook.

Owner59 -> RE: Charging Charlie (7/22/2010 6:48:52 PM)

It didnt require a guess. He's a worthless POS, so any accomplishment would be better.

Owner59 -> RE: Charging Charlie (7/22/2010 7:00:41 PM)

No,that you would lick his taint if he tortured a Muslim.

Doesn`t it suck, lucky, when jokes need explanation?

TheHeretic -> RE: Charging Charlie (7/22/2010 7:12:28 PM)

Yada, yada, slander and slime. Yada, yada, character assassination. Yada, yada, fling the race card.

I'd block you, Basiji, but then I would miss things like you admitting President Obama is in completely over her his head, and never qualified to begin with. It's also fun to see your dream domme answering your plea to be released from chastity.

tazzygirl -> RE: Charging Charlie (7/22/2010 8:54:40 PM)

Umm... could have sworn the only qualifications required are the ones in the Constitution to become President.

What qualifications are you referring too?

TheHeretic -> RE: Charging Charlie (7/22/2010 9:12:29 PM)

Yeah, I know, Tazzy. 35, and that other standard which he meets. Being eligible to hold the office is not the same as possessing the qualities that suit someone to the job.

tazzygirl -> RE: Charging Charlie (7/22/2010 9:20:32 PM)

Then they are not qualifications but qualities... which can be very subjective depending on who is asked. What qualities do you suggest a person should possess to be President?

TheHeretic -> RE: Charging Charlie (7/22/2010 9:31:24 PM)

If you are that bored, Tazzy, you can find reams of it the archives from fall of '08.

tazzygirl -> RE: Charging Charlie (7/22/2010 9:35:37 PM)

Im totally not bored. I find it amusing that you insist that someone isnt "qualified" because they dont possess the qualities you desire in a President. Which would stand to reason that if they dont possess the qualities i deem necessary, but you do, then they are equally unqualified.

Im even willing to bet that if you list all the qualities you desire in a President, i can find at least one on your list for each President that he (so far there is no she) would not possess.

I guess the next person I interview I'll hire if they are over 16 and legally here.

tazzygirl -> RE: Charging Charlie (7/22/2010 9:43:12 PM)

That is completely your decision. I dont even know what you do for a living. There are restrictions on what jobs a 16 year old can do and cant, though.
