DarkSteven -> The Colorado Governor's race just keeps getting wackier. (7/23/2010 8:51:54 PM)

The first merriment was when Scott McInnis had been paid $150K per year for two years to write original thoughts, which he then simply plagiarized other articles for.  When confronted, he promptly blamed someone who had done the work for him,. despite the terms of his contract specifying that the work was to be original.  He then managed to lie, evade, and generally make a fool of himself.  http://www.denverpost.com/election2010/ci_15551558

Three of McInnis staff quit, never a good sign: http://www.denverpost.com/election2010/ci_15536852

His opponent in the GOP primary, Dan Maes, is embroiled in an ethics investigation, and has claimed to be a succesful entrepreneur, who in fact is a failure in business.  http://www.denverpost.com/opinionheadlines/ci_15562019

A consulting firm has asked its employees to work for no pay.  Odd that politicos should break basic employment law.  http://www.denverpost.com/election2010/ci_15572633

Finally, Tom Tancredo, known for his militant anti-immigrant stance, has threatened to join the race as a third party candidate if Maes and McInnis don't drop out.  http://www.denverpost.com/election2010/ci_15582443

The Colorado GOP threatened to sue Tancredo if he ran as a third party candidate and then quikcly reversed itself when it discovered that they had no grounds to do so.  http://blogs.denverpost.com/thespot/2010/07/23/state-gop-threatens-lawsuit-to-keep-tancredo-off-the-ballot/12289/

What a wacky, wonderful place!

DarkSteven : You and I could make a run as co-candidates on a platform of "BDSM for Everone."  Of course, Colorado has no election for Vice-Governor (get it? Vice-Governor - never mind.) since that person is appointed by the Governor upon his/her election.  So, here's the deal.  We offer a real CHANCE to the population.  Upon our election we stand at 5,280 feet high (on whichever the fuck step of the State Capitol that is - contoversial, y'know.)  And then we toss a coin for it.

See, the race could be more wacky. LOL!

ETA:  Wait!  The paraphilias come out of the DSM on issue of 5th revision - 2012.  Until then our slogan is kinda, sorta dangerous..... On the other hand, that gives us time to build a grass roots campaign... Grass roots?  You take it from there...... Oh, yeah.  Like Westword needs another weed story....

DomKen -> RE: The Colorado Governor's race just keeps getting wackier. (7/23/2010 9:05:41 PM)

I support the Lance/Steven ticket.

Thank you for your support.  I'll send you the paypal account info in a moment, but seeing that you're from Chicago gave me an idea.

We are accepting $$ from ONLY Chicago residents..... oh, okay, Illinois residents .... in honor of our President's "home boy" status.

Hawaii?  Do NOT get me started.

ETA:  Lance was born and reared on Chicago's North Side and has trouble understanding theWhite Sox mentality, but that's okay..... Chicago will unite us in our endeavor to accept your $$ gifts.

If you can get DS dressed in leather for the campaign photo, I'm good for a donation.  [;)]

DarkSteven -> RE: The Colorado Governor's race just keeps getting wackier. (7/27/2010 7:34:59 PM)

The latest is that Tancredo and show host Peter Boyles got into an on-air argument with Dick Wadhams, whose job is supposed to be to get Republicans elected: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2559476/posts

DarkSteven -> RE: The Colorado Governor's race just keeps getting wackier. (7/31/2010 10:48:46 PM)

And now there are evidently robocalls announcing that Maes quit the race, and nobody seems to know who's making them.  http://blogs.denverpost.com/thespot/2010/07/28/maes-says-hes-still-in-race-despite-robocalls/12546/

And a website has popped up calling for Dick Wadhams to quit.  http://www.denverpost.com/search/ci_15644483

DarkSteven -> RE: The Colorado Governor's race just keeps getting wackier. (8/7/2010 7:44:13 AM)

Maes evidently decided to attack some low-key bike-sharing program as being somehow affiliated with the United Nations: http://www.denverpost.com/election2010/ci_15673894?source=pkg

Later, he stated that his solution to the Colorado budget problem would be to lay off employees by simply refusing to pay them: http://www.denverpost.com/election2010/ci_15689955?source=pkg

As well as permitting energy companies to drill on land that is owned by the Feds and not Colorado.

Owner59 -> RE: The Colorado Governor's race just keeps getting wackier. (8/7/2010 8:48:32 AM)

Heard about that.

Said he first supported it when the mayor started the program.

But then the epiphany,...............it was a commie plot.

"This is bigger than it looks like on the surface, and it could threaten our personal freedoms," he said."

Notice the typically republican tactic of sowing fear and paranoia.

Owner59 -> RE: The Colorado Governor's race just keeps getting wackier. (8/7/2010 8:49:47 AM)

woops.........

DarkSteven -> RE: The Colorado Governor's race just keeps getting wackier. (8/21/2010 11:09:11 AM)

And now Dan Maes, who was elected by the GOP voters, is being pressured to abandon his bid so the GOP can simply appoint a candidate that they consider more palatable: http://www.denverpost.com/election2010/ci_15822646?source=pkg

No regard for the entire voting process.

pahunkboy -> RE: The Colorado Governor's race just keeps getting wackier. (8/21/2010 1:30:35 PM)

The PA governors race is quiet.

I hate robo calls.

You have no idea how many calls I got in 08.   Man- it was NUTS!  every 15 mins

DarkSteven -> RE: The Colorado Governor's race just keeps getting wackier. (9/5/2010 12:16:45 PM)

So Dan Maes remains on the ballot as the legit GOP nominee for governor.  He's had two more scandals since, one in which his website claimed that he worked undercover as a cop in Kansas, which the Kansas cops deny; and he also returned $300 cash given to him for muddy reasons to the donor.  He returned the money with an unsigned check, which makes you wonder how astute a businessman he must have been.

http://www.denverpost.com/politics/ci_15968390

He's toast.  The Colorado GOP has written this race off, and is praying fervently that Maes doesn't drag down the whole ticket.

Owner59 -> RE: The Colorado Governor's race just keeps getting wackier. (9/5/2010 12:27:09 PM)

Well,he said it was "under-cover".......[8D]

DarkSteven -> RE: The Colorado Governor's race just keeps getting wackier. (9/18/2010 8:55:27 AM)

The local underground paper, Westword, has a cartoon timeline of the wacky races in Colorado: http://www.westword.com/microsites/colorado-campaign-2010/

DarkSteven -> RE: The Colorado Governor's race just keeps getting wackier. (10/16/2010 11:05:23 AM)

The latest:  Tancredo, despite running on a third party ticket, is coming close to overtaking the Dem candidate Hickenlooper: http://www.denverpost.com/election2010/ci_16352450

The GOP is concerned.
1. They do not want Maes elected and want Tancredo to win.
2. They want Maes, although losing, to get at least 10% of the vote or else the GOP becomes a minor party: http://www.denverpost.com/search/ci_16349542

I don't think they're going to get both.

switch2please -> RE: The Colorado Governor's race just keeps getting wackier. (10/16/2010 3:52:15 PM)

I don't have a lawn...but if I did...I'd put a Lance-Steven campaign sign on it.
Do you have buttons?

DarkSteven -> RE: The Colorado Governor's race just keeps getting wackier. (10/19/2010 8:58:01 PM)

There's a suspicion that Maes was offered a direct bribe to drop out.  That would make a Tancredo win more likely, but would doom the Colorado GOP to third party status.

Besides, dammit, he DID win the GOP primary.  Nobody seems to respect that fact.  http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_16377771
