This got me wondering how many people would be willing to give something like this a try.  How important is you wardrobe and accumulating new (or thrift store "new") pieces to you?  Could you go for a month...a year...without buying something new?  Why or why not?

Weight loss is my excuse. New items will be necessary. And I'm getting reacquainted with my heels and adding more to my collection. I don't think it's a matter of not spending, but making sure you can really afford the things you're purchasing instead.

absolutely!

And I'd forgotten I'd bought a pair of pvc jeans on eBay and then threw them in the back of the wardrobe because they were just waaaay too tight. They are now my absolutely fave pants!

I just LOVE it when that happens!

Aw, thank you, you're so sweet.  Of course, I dress like a girl, ya know.

new clothes???? - im sorry, what are they and where do you go to find them??

im with holly, i hate shopping.  but i have discovered that the charity shops around here are pretty good - lots of rich peoples cast offs for a fraction of the price (one benefit of being the overflow to Londons nouveau riche urban escapees), the only one, i might add.

i just grab stuff off hangers, pay the silly price and if i hate it later i bin it. - i got a monsoon dress for a fiver the other week - i like that sort of shopping.

does second hand count?

EBay doesn't count as shopping...right? And shopping is required to buy new clothes...right?

Nice try

I generally hate clothes shopping, and go months (I mean like 7-8 months) at a time without any purchases.  When I do shop and find something that fits well (especially if it's on sale) I'll buy several.  The latest was a trip to Kohls with my mom and we found some good polo shirts, all on sale.

I've got to shop some now because my favorite work pants finally croaked!

I hate clothes shopping. I seldom buy clothes until I need something for a specific reason, and have plenty of closet space because i'm the anti-hoarder. It is too easy for me to lose control of my environment, and that stresses me out. So, I do my best to keep things as clutter free as possible. I hate clothes. Clothes are my cryptonite. If I have too many of them I can't seem to keep them organized enough to be clutter free. And yet, I always seem to have to be washing the damn things. Every time I have to do the laundry, I wonder where the fuck the clothes keep coming from.
