well after i posted my last design problem, i have had an extreme change of heart for my room, and now that i think back on whar i had wanted before, i'm slightly disturbed about it. Instead of cherry wood furniture and a aqua/black/white colour scheme, i've gone for something more simple, but i believe will pack more punch: black/white/lime. not obnoxious lime, a bit on the softer side, but not a celery green. the cherry pieces that i had will be given to my boyfriend since he just has fiberboard furniture and the pieces can be put to good use. all my furniture will be black, and my bedding is white and black damask with lime sheets and shams; my window treatments are also white and black damask on top with lime green insulating underlayer. I'm also thinking of a green area rug. now, i'm having the SAME problem with my walls, and what to do with them. i dont want all black, green, or white. not complicated either.something very chic. any ideas?

As for what to do with your walls?

What turns you on?

How about some wall sculpture?

No, you don't want white walls.

I would suggest something in the cream family and an accent wall?

Lilac seems to go nicely with lime.

Not necessarily, although you certainly could pick it up as a part of accent pieces or art. I would be very subtle with it.

If you like silk floral arrangements: you could have one done/ do one with lilac hued Hydrangeas in a black vase.

You don't want white but what about a really light light lime, so the lime in the room pulls the color out of the walls. If you go to Lowes or something you can see the different things you can do with the walls, i.e., ragging, sponging etc.  You could possibly go with a light lime with a dark glaze of complement over the top in a rag or spong concept, even if its on just one wall.  you can paint one wall a darker green or a light lime etc or even black and leave the rest white.

i like the different wall colours. but a concern of mine- i probably shhould have put this in my OP, but i'm going for a 1950's, vintage-y, hollywood startlet type of feel. sort of a "mad men" feel, but brighter- would the different colour walls translate as too mod?

i don't think so, the feel so to speak will depend on what is in the room more so than what the walls are to me.  All the different color walls will do is give your room some dimension.  The decor is to me what will give it the vintage-ness.  The paint on the walls will simply give it a canvas so to speak.  You could also do a 1/2 and 1/2 concept, do vintage type wall paper on top or bottom with a border in the middle on one wall.  Or you can wall paper one whole wall for a mural type effect in a vintage type wall paper.  You can perhaps find some wall paper that has a decor with black, white and lime in it.  This way it won't overwelm the room and still maintain the vintage feel.  OR lol if you know any artists, you can perhaps keep the room white or a very light lime and have them draw/paint a black and white mural or design on the wall to give it some movement.

yes as you can tell i am big on the one wall concept.  To me it gives it depth and dimension without overwelming to the point your decor is drown.

Seconded.  White's cold and 'brilliant white' turns into 'dingy, yellow or grey white' really quickly.  An off-white is nearly always reliable, though.

well some of those accents could most easily be accomplished with one of those bands of wallpapering near the ceiling and if need be, near the floor upon the walls.

peon- yeah i noticed. before i moved in, the walls were freshly painted white...like hospital white. now they look like dingy eggshell. bleh. MNOTTERTAIL: omg i (heart) you! i adore the idea of wallpaper or a print on the ceiling. granted- i will be a bit time consuming- but worst case senario, i'll get a professional to do it.
