One of the things that's pissed me off lately (there have been several) is how the captains of our world are increasingly ball-less. They run from confrontation like scared bunnies. Here's an account of how Rod Blagojevich would hide from people he didn't want to talk with: http://chicagoist.com/2010/07/08/inherit_the_windbag_trapped_in_the.php GW Bush would speak in Colorado Springs and Orem, Utah frequently because he knew he could find a friendly audience. And he also tried to bar those with different views from attending his speeches. Joseph Nacchio, indicted ex-CEO of Qwest, actually moved a shareholder meeting so he would not have to face criticism. James Watkins, Secretary of Energy under GHW Bush, made a speech telling Rocky Flats workers that their jobs would be secure for 20 years. Then he returned to Washington and signed the order that would shut it down. Sarah Palin is refusing to take questions from the media. Roger Moore, CEO of GM, evaded filmmaker Michael Moore for years and his evasion was a leitmotif of Roger and Me. Why do we expect leadership from those who cannot handle opposition to their ideas?
