City Manager Robert Rizzo made almost 800,000 a year.

Police Cheif Randy Adams... 457,000.

Assistant City Manager Angela Spaccia ... 376,288

Part Time Council memebers ( all but one) 100,000.

quote:

The city cut more than $800,000 from public safety and community services the same year that it gave City Manager Robert Rizzo an $82,000 raise.

How bad is this? The City managers and assistant managers salary is 10% of the city budget.

The report shows that community services, including social services and recreation programs, were cut by 21%, or $593,438, while public safety took a 3.7% hit, or $228,888. Police training was whacked by 58%.

Seems they have all resigned, except the one part time council member who wasnt making as much as the rest.

quote:

City Council members in Bell unanimously agreed Monday to give up their controversial $96,000-a-year salaries and instead draw only $673 a month – a 90% decrease.

.........

Mayor Oscar Hernandez on Monday went a step further than his colleagues and said he will finish his term without pay and will not seek another stint as the city’s mayor.

................

In agreeing to sweep back their salaries, council members put themselves on par with Councilman Lorenzo Velez, who has been paid $673 a month. Velez said he was unaware that his colleagues were making so much.

Lorenzo has been the only council member spared the wrath of angry residents. His salary is not affect by Monday's vote.

Council members drove up their salaries by earning stipends by serving on various boards or commissions, all of which generally met – though often very briefly – during council meetings.

In their agreement Monday, council members said the $673-a-month salary will constitute their total pay.

Look into it, see if they were worth it, sometimes they are. Over here there were some brief complaints a while ago that the guy running the royal mail was getting paid more than three times the Prime Ministers salary...they were brief because the govt pointed out that before he came along the mail hadn't made profit in 20 years, and now was making hundreds of millions without having significant price rises.

Often the reason for huge salaries & bonuses is that people're doing a great job.

More often they are doing horrible jobs but still get those huge salaries and bonuses.

The town was reported to be 1.6 Million in the red, and until the LA Times reported the story, the residents apparently didn't know how much the government was getting paid.
