Woman as a group have historically suffered the most.Even when laws moved aside social barriers, cultural barriers remain.Equally qualified women still make less than their male counter-parts. Heard Sally Ride interviewed recently http://thedianerehmshow.org/shows/2010-07-27/former-astronaut-sally-ride Click the listen button at the upper left. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ She has a school she started w/ Exxon to encourage more girls and boys too to see https://www.sallyridescience.com/academy Dr. Ride mentioned that when she joined NASA,there were about 4000 technicians at Johnson Space Center and that only 5 were women. Dr. Ride went on to mention how important it was for youngsters to see a face put the role models they aspire to be. Later in the program a caller recalls being discouraged by her teachers from becoming a chemist. And it worked, the caller didn`t pursue her love and preferred career. Could the hundreds of years of woman being held back and discouraged from science, chemistry and math careers contributed to our present brain drain in science and engineering fields?
