Woman as a group have historically suffered the most.Even when laws moved aside social barriers, cultural barriers remain.Equally qualified women still make less than their male counter-parts.

Heard Sally Ride interviewed recently

Dr. Ride mentioned that when she joined NASA,there were about 4000 technicians at Johnson Space Center and that only 5 were women.

Dr. Ride went on to mention how important it was for youngsters to see a face put the role models they aspire to be.

Later in the program a caller recalls being discouraged by her teachers from becoming a chemist.
And it worked, the caller didn`t pursue her love and preferred career.

Could the hundreds of years of woman being held back and discouraged from science, chemistry and math careers contributed to our present brain drain in science and engineering fields?

Yep.

Women are part of mankind, just like men, how can we expect to get a complete answer when we exclude half of our species. It could be even that we have only developed half as far as we should have done for the very reason that man excludes woman.

We all don't live in an age where furtherment of the species is a requisite, especially so when there is so many unwanted or uncared for sproglings.
