Marini,

I've been expressing my opinion that the system both needs to support Capitalism and Socialism at the same time. However, things have reached critical mass. We are going to be forced to engage in commerce with insurance companies.

The world has been turned upside down, because Democrats have long pushed or supported Socialistic programs. On a number of levels, The Obama Administration is taking this country down the tubes even further after the Bush Administration.

I believe you are right, an end of an Era and then some is upon us now. Seriously, this is all turning out to be LARGE CORPERATION BULLSHIT!! We are Supporting the idiot Big business!! THE Corupt and Stupid!! I believe in Darwin when it comes to Buinesses. Let the AIG's, BP's and Enrons of the World DIE!! Perhaps more responsible Businesses will take their place. American's need to stop paying for Greed, Stupidity and Bad eithical practices. Not Pay more and more for it.

rest assured, we will continue to have the lowest life expectancy, the highest infant mortality rate

Just FYI, many aren't aware that the US has stricter standards on what counts in the infant mortality rate than many countries (Including Japan, and much of the EU which doesn't count many premature births as "live births", where the US does).

This kinda skews the infant mortality rate (and thus the average life expentancy) of the US to look considerably worse than it is in comparison to many countries.

Do you have a link to that?

It also ignores the fact that there are a greater percentage of at risk pregancies in the US.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhh............aren't you already forced to engage in commerce with insurance companies?

Or are you one of the people that uses the emergency room as their health care service and ignores the bills so it drives up medical costs for everyone?

Those are called "poor people".

And the hospitals have a novel way of treating those who cannot pay for health care:

February 09, 2007|Andrew Blankstein and Richard Winton, Times Staff Writers
A paraplegic man wearing a soiled hospital gown and a broken colostomy bag was found crawling in a gutter in skid row in Los Angeles on Thursday after allegedly being dumped in the street by a Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center van, police said.

The ungrateful bastard probably doesn't even tip his valet. I bet he is a Democrat.

Save this post; I will refer to it the next time some Talibangelical wants to spout off about how we are a "Christian Nation".

Are you serious? I am fortunate to be able to afford excellent health care coverage (thank god) but I don't for one minute begrudge people that can't and have to use emergency rooms to get health care. Which isn't even really heath care, it's more like using the ER to not oh say bleed to death or something.

Be grateful that you can have heath insurance and not be an ass to those that can not. I don't have any kind of employer coverage since I am a co-owner of a small business, so I have to cover my premium as well as part of the cost for my employees, so if anyone should complain about absorbing costs it would be a business owner like myself, and again, I am just appreciative that I can do so. I don't know about where you live rule, but in Maine it is one of the costliest states for private pay coverage as well.
