H.R. 5741 Slave bill now in Committee
sounds like a backdoor draft.  I wonder how it gets funded.  Funny how it gets very little coverage.

You could make the case that it'll make wars hit home, by affecting more than the few percent in the armed forces.  I seriously doubt it will ever see the light of day.

"To require all persons in the United States between the ages of 18 and 42 to perform national service, either as a member of the uniformed services or in civilian service in furtherance of the national defense and homeland security, to authorize the induction of persons in the uniformed services during wartime to meet end-strength requirements of the uniformed services, and for other purposes."

Same nutcase keeps introducing it to try to make some kind of point and it never gets taken seriously or makes it out of committee. Non issue

So pray there will always be enough volunteers, to make the sacrifice, for those of us who will not

I do not think that is how they plan on this idea being implmented.... I see this being one step closer to the idea that anyone who wishes to be a Citizen.... born here or not will have to give two years of their life to the Government.

I look at it as giving up two years for their country

I call it slavery or Indentured servitude which is basically slavery. I See the draft also as slavery.

Maybe this is one of those up close and personal it's the same thing.

There are some people in this country some who are citizens who I would find a counter productive measure placed in Goverment or Military positions even as a volunteer.

Actually I could actually so see Obama signing something like this. Just spin it to include the civilian service as service to the community and I think he would sign it. He's big on social causes and forcing people to do things they don't want to in the name of social justice.

Those unwilling to do social justice should expect none in their own hour of need, when, not if, it comes.

If they do expect social justice for themselves and yet are unwilling to do it for others, then society must either compel them or, in their hour of need, abandon them.

The freedom of the individual is assured only by the support and strength of the collective, which itself is strong because of its derivation from individuals.
