Dream Housing, c'mon, even in this age everyone still has a dream about where or how they would like to live, so with reality as a check mark, is anyone actually still working actively of passively towards that dream. The reason I have asked, is because I have just recently realised my dream, a dream I had as a teen when I worked in an architectural planning office. My dream has come back after all these years and it is as follows ; Work towards purchasing my own bit of woodland, about five acres will do, and in there constructing a Swedish technology Torp, a wooden house raised off the ground, and for services indulge my interest in permaculture, wind turbines, water, whatever, rainwater and groundwater reclaimation and microbe ponds for sewerage. The plan is, for me to continue with my small business dreams, I need to be away from people, as people I have learned can be a problem, in that they can and do seek to prevent things they don't like for whatever reason, and often it is a stab in the back kind of action, all smiles and friendliness to your face, then reporting to authorities when your back is turned. So, hopefully with my own land and by woodland my activities concealed and possibly sound deadened, I can operate my forge and do my charcoal burning and give no one any reason to complain. My cats can roam free unthreatened by people and my choice of friends can visit or stay unhassled. The wood of course will be private and I am sorry to have to ever say this, but it will be a case of Ged of my land for I value my privacy and living as I have done has taught me there are a lot of people in society who like to cause problems for others. So, what of others, do you have any realistic housing dreams ?

If you had asked me 30 years ago if I thought I would ever call the little slice heaven I have now, home, I would have laughed at you. My dreams now.....add a 4 seasons porch, finish the lower level, maybe add on. Perhaps buy more land around my current home. A travel trailer (actually two....vintage and newer). A second home in Colorado.

A house on the Taranaki coast - right in line for the northerly and southerly winds, with a fire that sends heat to all rooms, central heat and air, and a porch overlooking the sea and another so i can look at the mountain. It will have a craft room with huge double paned windows, and a cosy kitchen with a large den with more huge windows (i love natural light) The porches will have a translucent cover over most of them so i can sit out there when it is raining, and have somewhere to put my tender plants in the winter. I won't have any immediate neighbours either, so i won't need curtains- unless of course, i want some.

I dream of a house with a huge loft that's all bedroom, with a sitting room where i can comfortably sit and read. A huge ass bathroon with a separate shower and 2 tubs, one a large hot tub, the other an old cast iron claw foot tub. It will of course have a balcony running the length of the house looking down on the main living room. O, and of course the whole upstairs will be soundproofed, for real, not like the supposed soundproofing I now have in my 1/3 of the main house. The main floor will have one guest room with all amenities. I want a tv room set up with the best sound equipment and the comfy couch to lounge in and easy chairs and recliners. Popcorn maching at the ready as well as a full bar. The family room will have no tv, just to sit there and get the chance to chat with friends who have of course been invited. Living room will not be formal, but used on special occasions only. Of course with the loft, the ceilings will be cathedral. I will require a fully equipped profressional kitchen with lots of cupboards and plenty of counter space where I can do all the baking and cooking I want. There will of course have to be a basement where a dungeon will be built. If I'm going to dream, I'm going all out. On about 6 acres of land, with a pond that holds lots of froggies. Can't forget the inground pool, heated of course and be able to use it year round. And outside bar also that can be used year round. I want it all, I want it all, I want it all, I want it all. I may not get it, but then I'd settle for an old house that still has the original architecture even if it's now hidden. I love to work room by room and get it back to it's original grandeur. Well, this is all a dream, not about to happen, not unless I win the huge lottery, and can't do that without buying tickets. [:D]

a few years ago i found this little house in the Lot Valley (france) - it needed alot of work, more than i could afford - but its simplicity now would be all that i wanted. the most perfect thing about it was that the sun rose to the left of it and set to the right of it and throughout the day the heads of the sunflowers followed the sun on its progress across the sky. something like that i think. simple, tucked away with a sensual energy that france does sooo well, like nowhere else ive been.

My Dream House... Something PAID for with a porch or patio that faces southand gets all the sun! ( in a rural or beach area would be perfect! )

I have a practical and long term goal in terms of housing. Stateside I prefer Texas and I like the tax benefits and the climate. However, I'd like to settle in the UK or France permanently. I'm working towards both at present. ~porcelaine

I'd have two dream houses. The first a penthouse on Central Park in NYC. With a gorgeous bathroom with plenty of windows and a huge claw foot tub where Master can watch me enjoy the bubbles. The second is a beach house in the keys where I can walk out and sit on the beach and enjoy my alone time. That house doesn't need much, It could be completely empty except for a fluffy bed for all I care. Thats my dream.....now if I could just wish hard enough for it to happen, lol

a "green" condo with lots of lighting and airy space, modern conveniences with a patio for parties or just to sit out to drink my coffee in the morning and a small community type of atmosphere where there's a pool, a grocery store, restaurant, etc...all on the grounds. I've seen places like this and I would love to be able to live there if I could afford it.

The land also had two derelict stone houses that were vandalised during the Highland clearances. It’s gone. What a shame. But there will be others like it coming up I guess. For a while, I wanted to establish a B&B&B. I'm not so certain anymore. Legal wrangling, insurance, etc. It would need to be large enough to hang most or all of the erotic art I would like to have hanging at once. A spare room or two for the media collection (CD's, DVD's, books, etc.). At one point in time I calculated my ideal footage would be somewhere between 3500 and 5000 sq. ft. Large enough to accomplish some things, but still small enough that if properly maintained it can be done without too much trouble and appear 'mansiony'. And of course the playspace. Jeff
