I was listening to The Concert In Central Park CD...mainly to hear The Boxer. Mrs Robinson was the only S&G song that had an icon.[:)]

You must be a fan too...

The Boxer is by far my favorite. It amazes me just how difficult that song is to actually sing. It is such a lovely song.

I am pretty sure this is the most recent recording of The Boxer (2008, just before the Reunion Tour). Paul Simon sounds strained, but Art Garfunkel just gets better with age.[:)]

I'm a Pureist in the fact that Leonard Cohen OWNS this song... but I agree... I liked the version you posted... someting about Leonards Voice however always draws me back to him as I listen to this song.....

Most other singers makes this sound like a sweet song... Leonard does it in such a way you see the Wicked behind the Good. The little smile he gives before he sings Hallelujah always makes me wonder what dirty thoughts of the Chealsea Hotel he finds there behind that word.

Cohen is such an unappreciated lyrical master.

Now, Cohen - Tower of Song is stuck in my head...

I should be so lucky to have such a song echo on the grey matter of my mind.

This is because Art was always the Voice.. Paul was the words... It is sad that they really do hate one another... Even if they are playing nice... body language of that performance says to me they can't stand one another.

Art never had what it took to write great songs, Paul always did that.

Thank you for that version it is nice to hear that song in a good live recording.

I think that is why I like John Cale's version...there is some grit there and Jeff Buckley's version is complex.

Leonard's version is amazing.

There is a cover of Famous Blue Raincoat done by someone you have likely never heard of that I like very much:

"Shake Me" by Taddy Porter, just a cool rock tune.

Lead Singer of Three Days Grace got together with 4 boys who play Hard Rock Cello.... Apocalyptica.

I don't Care - Apocalyptica Feat Adam Gontier of Three Days Grace.

The Beauty and the Pain of this song are near symbiotic in this song.

It is one of those songs that would not have been as good if either side of the cooperation had not been involved.

Enjoy it.. the Temporal Sponge is,

ARRRGGHHH....just because I just answered the thread about songs I have now got the song "How deep is your love" by the Bee Gees stuck in my head!!!

Zevar -> RE: What song has you Brain Engaged at the current moment? (8/1/2010 11:03:58 PM)

When I answered my cell just a bit ago this evening it was my Administrative Assistant asking for a ride to work due to his partner not being able to give him a ride AND I heard in his background as I spoke with him the song in the video on this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGLZqDXau98

Upon hearing and demanding to know why he was playing this antiquated disco song he laughed as he sang along, rather badly I might add, AND I then had a series of random disco flashbacks of days gone by AND now this song is playing over and over in my head.

I am diligently searching for the OFF BUTTON!
