but your rights to thoughts on a good woman trying: show what foolishness freedom of speech is.

If you're against free speech you can always vote with your feet there are plenty of countries that don't have it.

I enjoy Anne Rice as a writer. I've read the Sleeping Beauty trilogy, Introducing Belinda, Exit to Eden, The Witching Hour etc. Her faith conviction is separate from her writing, I think.

What I want to know is does this mean she will go back to writing about things other than Jesus?

Don't you all knock Anne Rice--not a one of you. End this thread here, because none of you have the right to an opinion on someone else trying to find their beliefs, and especially, not someone brilliant and beautiful.

Say what you want, battle me and my thoughts, but your rights to thoughts on a good woman trying: show what foolishness freedom of speech is.

And yet without it you wouldn't get to talk... Oh.. right... you're the only one who gets to express their opinion. Duly noted and ignored.

I have an utter distaste for Anne Rice and her books. I don't doubt that she's a good person. That doesn't mean I have to like her or support her. I'm allowed to disagree with her and I'm pretty sure as a "brilliant and beautiful woman" she realizes that it's ok for people to disagree and that people are allowed to voice their opinions.

Her religion? Don't particularly care though I find it odd that such a "brilliant" woman doesn't realize that she doesn't have to leave organized Christianity to be a support of gay rights, etc. I've attended Baptist churchs that were in line with her beliefs as she outlined them. Of course, if she wants to leave, it's all good. Just a little odd that such a "beautiful" woman doesn't know how to use Google to find liberal Christian churchs. She is, evidently, familiar with both typing and the Internet after all.

BTW - I'm pretty sure that if she were here, she'd be telling you to stop helping her. You're just making her look worse by implying that it's better to end freedom of speech than speak ill of Anne Rice.

To leave christianity she'd have to leave behind her belief in Jesus.

To leave Christianity, she'd have to abandon her belief in Paul, not Christ.

K.

To follow Westernized Christianity, this is true

Anne Rice? Who gives a fuck.

I will never stop wondering why people post comments on threads to say they do not "give a fuck" about them. I tend to ignore things I do not care about. There are so many threads in this site I do not give a fuck about.... in fact, there are entire forums I do not give a fuck about. I show my lack of fuck-giving my not hitting them....

AQuietSimpleMan -> RE: Anne Rice quits Christianity (7/31/2010 8:20:45 PM)

what is interesting is that what she did has not yet even really been discussed.

This isn't even about Jesus. She states pretty clearly that she Believes and live a life of praise and love to and for Jesus.

What she does not wish to do is be a part of the Political requirements that often come with being a Christian.

It is the very same reason I have never been a part of an organized religion..... considering that Jesus himself was described as being Anti-Church saying the whole world is a place to worship his father.

The Anti-Gay, Anti-Democrat, Anti-this, Anti-that shit bugs the hell out of me as well. I have attended many services of many different faiths and some churches I would attend for many weeks and in one case a whole year and was nearly baptized.... It all went to hell when I asked the Pastor what he thought about Homosexuality.... He said "God says it's wrong." and that was when I left never to return.

I'm not even Gay. But the idea that a man would decide for god what he thinks is enough for me to leave.

I agree and support Anne Rice in her choice I wish more people would step out from the houses of god and read the book that worship and try to answer their own questions about it.... cause what I learned is that Church is where I am Confused about the teachings in that book. Church is where I am told that cities were destroyed because people were Gay while the book itself says it's because they were wicked which isn't the same as gay and the book itself says that.

Anyway.... Organized Religion is about creating sides. God and Christ did not set out to seperate it's people.... certainly not those who all use the same book into hating each other.

Generally that seems to be how it works.

"Intuiting God's beliefs on important issues may not produce an independent guide, but may instead serve as an echo chamber to validate and justify one's own beliefs," writes a team led by Nicholas Epley of the University of Chicago in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

You and Anne Rice probably do it to.

Well now that she ain't a christian anymore do you think she would like to get naked and nasty with a bunch of perverts like us?
I would bend the bitch over just to say I had been there.
I would lead the charge to make her an "airtight tripple decker"
