The author of such books as Exit to Eden and the Beauty trilogy decides she doesn't want to be in the company of "Christians."

On July 29, 2010, Anne publicly renounced her dedication to her Roman Catholic faith, yet remaining committed to Christ, on her Facebook page stating;
"For those who care, and I understand if you don’t: Today I quit being a Christian. I’m out. I remain committed to Christ as always but not to being “Christian” or to being part of Christianity. It’s simply impossible for me to “belong” to this quarrelsome, hostile, disputatious, and deservedly infamous group. For ten years, I’ve tried. I’ve failed. I’m an outsider. My conscience will allow nothing else." [16]
following the post a few hours after with
“As I said below, I quit being a Christian. I’m out. In the name of Christ, I refuse to be anti-gay. I refuse to be anti-feminist. I refuse to be anti-artificial birth control. I refuse to be anti-Democrat. I refuse to be anti-secular humanism. I refuse to be anti-science. I refuse to be anti-life. In the name of Christ, I quit Christianity and being Christian. Amen.” [17]
She reaffirmed her faith in Christ with a lack of faith in organized Christianity an hour or so later with the following post
"My faith in Christ is central to my life. My conversion from a pessimistic atheist lost in a world I didn't understand, to an optimistic believer in a universe created and sustained by a loving God is crucial to me. But following Christ does not mean following His followers. Christ is infinitely more important than Christianity and always will be, no matter what Christianity is, has been, or might become." [18]

Huh.  That does surprise me, although if you look at history, Christianity's been quarrelsome from the very beginning.

Doesn't surprise me. She has a habit of being erratic about her beliefs and moralities in life. Give her a couple of years and she'll change once again...and it's not christianity she's leaving...it's the church. She still believes in Christ. To leave christianity she'd have to leave behind her belief in Jesus. Instead she's walking away from the organization of his followers.

To leave Christianity, she'd have to abandon her belief in Paul, not Christ.

Don't you all knock Anne Rice--not a one of you. End this thread here, because none of you have the right to an opinion on someone else trying to find their beliefs, and especially, not someone brilliant and beautiful.

You're kidding, eh?  The admins can stop a thread, not anyone else.  Besides, what does brilliant and beautiful have to do with it?

And given some of the things done in his name, Christ would probably be first in line to post if he was here.

Just because someone is, or claims to be christian, does not mean he is a good christian. Anyone with a child can claim they are a father, or mother, but it does not mean they are good ones, or that they love their child. Look at some of the news lately of what some have done to their children. True christians, trying to walk the walk, I beleive are a small minority of organized religion. Organized religion is getting like the U S government. They don't look at the good of the people but only what the party or denomination wants.

I suspect he'd be too busy beating the Pope.
