Some nice political news for a change...

http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20406677,00.html

Surrounded by 400 friends, and her parents Bill and Hillary (who wore Oscar de la Renta), the former first daughter, 30, wed her longtime boyfriend Marc Mezvinsky, 32, in Rhinebeck, N.Y., Saturday. She wore a dress designed by Vera Wang, a family friend, who was also in attendance

I don't really view this as "political news" either.

juliaoceania -> RE: Chelsea Clinton Weds (7/31/2010 7:53:52 PM)

Her wedding is a huge political event. Her father and mother were there, the secret service provided security for it. There were guests of global magnitude there..

Chelsea Clinton has campaigned for her mother, as an adult. She has an ivy league education, she is a successful person, and she may one day follow in her parent's footsteps and go into public service

Now, you may not think this is "political", and I respect your opinion, I just do not agree with it.

Aylee -> RE: Chelsea Clinton Weds (7/31/2010 8:34:33 PM)

I wish them both well.

I am surprised you were taken in by this stuff, Julia.

Now, were it Amy Carter .... I could understand.

Not really, just teasing... [;)]

I am a sucka for a Vera Wang wedding gown

Level -> RE: Chelsea Clinton Weds (7/31/2010 8:56:17 PM)

I'd feel fuzzy-wuzzier towards them if she had a simple little ceremony; I hate these big to-dos.

juliaoceania -> RE: Chelsea Clinton Weds (7/31/2010 9:01:59 PM)

When one considers how well connected she is, the guest list does not seem overly much. My mom was only 18 and she had about 200 people at her wedding, mind you, most of them were her siblings and my dad's siblings (mom is one of 11 kids and my dad was one of 5), and they only had their close relatives and friends around.

Chelsea is 30, and her hubby is about the same age. I can imagine that they kept it small, for them that is...

There were only 4 people at my wedding, this was on purpose

popeye1250 -> RE: Chelsea Clinton Weds (7/31/2010 9:52:36 PM)

I saw some pictures, where was President Obama and his wife???

tazzygirl -> RE: Chelsea Clinton Weds (7/31/2010 10:26:27 PM)

LOL... your funny!

One ex-President and the current Sect of State is enough with secret service... imagine 2 Presidents, a First Lady (Unless you want to include Hillary as an ex- FL) and all the kids, including Chelsea.

popeye1250 -> RE: Chelsea Clinton Weds (8/1/2010 12:36:00 AM)

Tazzy, I knew it, she's going to run in 2012 isn't she?
Obama probably DID get an invite to the wedding but he thought she'd try to poison him and took a pass.
"More CAKE Barak?"
"Mfff, no fanks this is good."

twistedwillow -> RE: Chelsea Clinton Weds (8/1/2010 2:26:17 AM)

Gratz to Chels' and all that jazz ...

But she is just one of thousands of women who get married every day... no biggie.

Bit like the which starlet is preggers, same deal, gratz to them, but who cares.

Arpig -> RE: Chelsea Clinton Weds (8/1/2010 4:52:10 AM)

whooop-dee-doo

pahunkboy -> RE: Chelsea Clinton Weds (8/1/2010 6:46:21 AM)

heartcream -> RE: Chelsea Clinton Weds (8/1/2010 7:22:40 AM)

Popeye, why you have to hate on someone the day they get married... stop drinking the hater-ade

KatyLied -> RE: Chelsea Clinton Weds (8/1/2010 8:21:27 AM)

They had an interfaith wedding ceremony, her parents are big in politics (obviously), this thread belongs in this forum.  I am happy for them, I hope they have a wonderful marriage.

Sanity -> RE: Chelsea Clinton Weds (8/1/2010 8:22:20 AM)

One good thing about it is that they spread the wealth around a little bit. I heard it cost the Clintons two million dollars...
