why when someone either disables there profile does it not get removed from the searches ?

I think it does disappear eventually, but there seems to be a lag in the process.

I dunno. One of my profile's been disabled for months and still shows up.

I think the options are to deactivate your account OR delete it, and some I suppose choose just to deactivate them, rather than have them completely gone. 

I misspelled my username and had to go through the process, and I chose the one that said delete since the others sounded iffy and I didn't quite know what they meant, and that account did completely disappear, so I believe delete erases all traces off the site altogether.

My guess would be that if you choose any other than delete, your account is still accessible to you/your password for some time before it truly is closed or deactivated.

Btw these options are in your 'edit profile' section right at the top if you'd like to get to them, hope that helps.

I rhink gurlie is right.  You can deactivate it and the accout is still there.
