No but I am sure I would be good there too!

realwhiteknight -> RE: Chicago (8/2/2010 11:30:38 AM)

I wrote a poem too!!!

"I was asking for something specific and perfect for my city,
Whereupon lo! upsprang the aboriginal name.
Now I see what there is in a name, a word, liquid, sane, unruly,
musical, self-sufficient,
I see that the word of my city is that word from of old,
Because I see that word nested in nests of water-bays, superb,
Rich, hemm'd thick all around with sailships and steamships, an
island sixteen miles long, solid-founded,
Numberless crowded streets, high growths of iron, slender, strong,
light, splendidly uprising toward clear skies,
Tides swift and ample, well-loved by me, toward sundown,
The flowing sea-currents, the little islands, larger adjoining
islands, the heights, the villas,
The countless masts, the white shore-steamers, the lighters, the
ferry-boats, the black sea-steamers well-model'd,
The down-town streets, the jobbers' houses of business, the houses
of business of the ship-merchants and money-brokers, the
river-streets,
Immigrants arriving, fifteen or twenty thousand in a week,
The carts hauling goods, the manly race of drivers of horses, the
brown-faced sailors,
The summer air, the bright sun shining, and the sailing clouds aloft,
The winter snows, the sleigh-bells, the broken ice in the river,
passing along up or down with the flood-tide or ebb-tide,
The mechanics of the city, the masters, well-form'd,
beautiful-faced, looking you straight in the eyes,
Trottoirs throng'd, vehicles, Broadway, the women, the shops and shows,
A million people--manners free and superb--open voices--hospitality--
the most courageous and friendly young men,
City of hurried and sparkling waters! city of spires and masts!
City nested in bays! my city!"

Where is the hog butchering?

Where is the brawling city of big shoulders?

Where is the poo?

Your city blows.

You are no Carl Sandburg!

W.B Yeats.

realwhiteknight -> RE: Chicago (8/2/2010 11:41:30 AM)

Dear W.B. Yeats,

Where is the hog butchering?

WE happen to combine the pleasures of sordid underground nightlife with the meat industry in our lovely Meat Packing District.

Where is the brawling city of big shoulders?

If you can't see our big shoulders, you must be blind. Or have very tiny shoulders.

Where is the poo?

OH it's everywhere. Trust me.

Your city blows.

Hm...does the windy city mean anything to you? Pot, I'm not a kettle, so kiss my patootie.

You are no Carl Sandburg!

No, thank god, I'm *alot* better than him.

Sincerely,

Sylvia Plath.

New York? Fer Chrissake even Sinatra sang two songs about Chicago before you whiny bitches forced him to sing a ridiculous song about your tawdry little town. Then he died from shame.

When the wind blows from the east we can smell the urine.

That's Hunky's backed up septic...bubbling up to the surface....and then seaping into the town pool.

Shore! It's good to see you! Have you read the bukkake thread? Here, let me help you out with a link! http://www.collarchat.com/m_3341997/tm.htm

Speaking of....

Hunky - Hop a bus and head to Chicago this Thursday.  The Department of Labor just called we're one homo short of being EEOC compliant.

If you bring a "friend", we won't have to invite any Pacific Islanders.

Think about it.

[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D] FIRST OF ALL, wasn't Sinatra a New Yorker? Second of all, you know why we have so much urine covering the streets? WE have about 20 times the population you do. The urine is simply evidence that everyone on the globe lives *here*. Because it's awesome.

Hey, how many Chigoans does it take to screw in a light bulb?

3 times as many as it would take of New Yorkers, because New Yorkers are 3 times more awesome. Plus, Chicago tends to blow away light bulbs in its perpetually frigid, arctic winds.

L3,

Your continued support in providing me recreational activity suggestions to share with my partner is greatly appreciated.

I now have my first friend from Nebraska.

ShoreBound149 -> RE: Chicago (8/2/2010 12:18:43 PM)

I agree about Al's.

They should not try to substitue Mr. Beef.

Mr. Beef is not as good as Al's

I agree. They're living off the name not the product.

I must have a beef sandwich at Al's.

The only time I went to a Chicago steakhouse was The Saloon... and on the matches it says "Can't beat our meat!!" Said without irony. I still have those matches...

Saloon Steakhouse makes divine French Martini's. [;)]

For an excellent Chicago hot dog with a little color thrown in after midnight, I would suggest the Weiner Circle at Clark and Wrightwood in Lincoln park.  They got a char dog and fresh cut fries to die for! The "ladies" working there will trash talk you to the ground!

We've never been there.  We'll be heading there Thursday for four days.  Staying in the Loop section.  Art Institute on Thursday.  Cubs game booked for Friday.  I'll be the guy in the Yogi Berra jersey.  (at the Art Institute)

We'd appreciate any opinions on stuff you enjoy doing there.  Including but not limited to:

Steakhouse
Live Music Venue (all types)
Great Old Neighborhood Bars
Deviant Venues or Activities
"Must See" Chicago Stuff
Other Favorite Restaurants (all types)
Historical Sites

For steak go to Keefer's
For stuffed greasy as pizza go to this place on Ashland just north of Diversey idk the name but it's the most evil greasy Chicago pizza I've ever had.
Go to Eli's cheesecake and the top floor of the Hancock for cocktails
Go get some awesome carne asada tacos on 26th street and chinese pastries in Chinatown.
I don't know if they're still any good but go to Funky Buddha Lounge and Evil Olive if you want to go out.
If you like architecture go check out Oak Park and go to Riverside if you're in that area because it's pretty too. And there's some swinging bridge over a river somewhere.

Haha I hope I never have to give anyone directions because it would be "go check out that thing at that place"

But I hope you enjoy your time in Chicago. And of course go to the lake, get a boat for the afternoon and just chill out on the lake. It's really nice.
