We've never been there.  We'll be heading there Thursday for four days.  Staying in the Loop section.  Art Institute on Thursday.  Cubs game booked for Friday.  I'll be the guy in the Yogi Berra jersey.  (at the Art Institute)

We'd appreciate any opinions on stuff you enjoy doing there.  Including but not limited to:

Steakhouse
Live Music Venue (all types)
Great Old Neighborhood Bars
Deviant Venues or Activities
"Must See" Chicago Stuff
Other Favorite Restaurants (all types)
Historical Sites

I was also going to recommend the Bean. There is a lot of live music at this, on Saturday and Sunday: North Halstead Market Days

People always recommend Lou Malnati's Pizza. Been there and done that and didn't see what all the fuss was about but like I said it seems to be a time honored Chicago tradition.

Al's Beef... gotta have one 601 W Adamas or..169 W Onatrio

For Jazz I like the Green Mill 4802 N Broadway/

For Blues there is Buddy Guys 700 S Wabash, although I prefer Kingston Mines 2548 N Halsted.

For Rock.... really depends on what you want to hear. the Black Keys are at the Metro. 3730 N Clark on Saturday.

And of course you should hit the Map Room..:)

Walk east and sit on the beach. People from the ocean think its some small rinky dink lake. But its not Lake Michigan is more like an inland sea. There is also great walkways and bicycle paths at the lake. Its all called Lincoln Park. There is also a zoo at Fullerton.

Oh also if you like art, the Mexican Art museum in the Pilsen area is worth a look see with artists like Freda Callo. Its free and the mexican food in that area is the most authentic you will find.

I don't care much for the place.

Have you two ever considered visiting Rockford?

On July 8th at Davis Park, Tone Loc and Young MC will be performing. I know how you two love Young MC.

Throughout the majority of the nineties Rockford was continually voted as the worst city in the galaxy.

You two would be welcome in Rockford. You would be viewed, at first, as foriegners but your intelligence and drive may allow you to gain some status in "the community" with your new found occupation of stuffing bags at the local Piggly Wiggly.

Rot in Hell. Enjoy your stay in Rockford. Fucko's.

This pretty much covers the music. Green Mill is a personal favorite.

When you get done at the Art Institute The Field Museum is east and south on the lakefront.

For steak I like Gibson's 1028 N Rush. Be warned that Chicago steakhouses are fairly expensive.
For pizza I like Leona's (a local chain).
For deviance you can people watch and shop at Broadway and Belmont

I sorta like the boat rides on the lake.    If you stumble onto one-  they give a narration of what you are looking at.

The ghost of Frank Loyd Wright said he would prefer it if you two would stay out of his creations.

There are a bunch in Oak Park, Il. I used to live there. They have tours on the weekends.

The CTA Blue Line will take you from your transient hotel to Oak Park. Twenty minutes.
