Because it's endlessly entertaining to have my smartass boy riff lines from South Park or do Star Trek voices in the shower. On a long drive once he perfectly imitated my talking GPS and had it giving me absolutely horrid, obscene or silly instructions. It kept me in stitches for the entire trip. Having him around is better than HBO, and it doesn't cost $29.95 a month.

I collared him because I appreciate him for who he is, and that includes an absolutely wicked sense of humor that keeps me perpetually amused.

Whenever and however I feel like it. When I stop laughing my ass off, I may well beat him. He knows he'll get hit for some smart remarks, but it's still fun. He doesn't do it to sass me or challenge me so much as to be entertaining and funny, so it's not really an issue of respect. If it was, I'd have a much different response.
