When in all of human history has a new form of govt had the support of the masses? I cannot think of one example seriously. New govts are formed by coersion of one sort or another not from mass support as far as i know.

I think one world govt is unlikely because we are too tribal.

There have been instances when there was a large popular support for a fundamental change in government, although they have always been in the form of a violent overthrow of an existing government by the masses.

I thought the lastest conspiracy was the NWO which if I remember correctly...is at first a 3-way world govt. divided geographically ? The the dominant of the three would become the one.

Is the NWO being brought to us carrying a cross...wrappd in a flag ? It wil be a so far very successful, slow march of and modification of society through media. Fear and partisan bickering will grip us and we are soon before we know it and for our security...only a number.

Jeff~

Most people are gutless.  Instead of doing something proactive about their lives and their situations they would prefer to blame it on the big, bad, bogeyman.  They want to live their lives as perpetual victims and claim to have no "control" over their fates.  This, of course, is ridiculous.

What made you think choosing the path of self-determination was going to be the easy one? This is would be too painful for them. It isn't all spewing poisoned pen notes about your victimized past, sure THAT is easy. What's hard is building a life, and changing yourself. Not them. You. Have. To. Change.

This is something that they are unable to do because it means that would have to take full and complete responsibility for themselves, their choices, and their lives.  Couldn't, wouldn't, mustn't, shouldn't - these are the laments of the spineless. I can and I will, but not because I must or I should!

Instead the OWG freaks have made the decision that they are not the author of their own lives.  They have made the decision that they are not responsible for themselves or their choices.  It is easier that way for them.  Being pro-active about their own existence is just much to difficult.

"We are taught you must blame your father, your sisters, your brothers, the school, the teachers--you can blame anyone, but never blame yourself. It's never your fault. But it's ALWAYS your fault, because if you wanted to change, you're the one who has got to change. It's as simple as that, isn't it?"

Wrong thread.

The US was founded on Judeo-Christian ideals. That isn't inconsistent with religious freedom.

Wrong thread my ass.

I was correcting his and now YOUR misconception, you show me exactly where in the US Constitution it is stated that the nation is founded upon Judeo Christian principles, the founders were almost all DEISTS, the notable exception being John Adams.  Most of the founders
(especially Franklin) openly questioned the divinity of Jesus, and in many cases the VERY EXISTENCE of Jesus (again especially Franklin).

I am so sick of the stupid perception that this is a "christian nation" IT IS NOT,  the government is not a THEOCRACY, despite what some may want, this nation was founded on the principle of religious freedom, which means I am free to believe in the frigging "Flying Spaghetti Monster" if I so choose and it also means YOU HAVE ZERO RIGHT TO IMPOSE YOUR BELIEF SYSTEM ON ANYONE ELSE.

As for the topic of one world government OUR RELIGIOUS FREEDOM WILL PREVENT IT UNTIL HUMANS DECIDE THAT ALL "GODS" ARE BULLSHIT.

First of all, a bit of research into the personal writings of the founding fathers will prove that almost all had a strong belief in Christ, and therefore were Christians. Benjamen Franklin often admitted he was a Christian in the way that Christ wanted him to be a Christian but did not want a preacher shoving some sort of religious dogma at him. Jefferson attended church at the House of Representatives every Sunday while he was President because they were non-discriminatory and for the most part, non denominational.

The myth that they were not Christians comes from the simple phrase "Congress shall enact no law as to the establishment of religion."

People fall to remember that the colonies were founded by people fleeing religious persecution, the Church of England was all powerful and a STATE sponsored religion, set up by Henry VIII.

quote:

It is no exaggeration to say that on Sundays in Washington during the administrations of Thomas Jefferson (1801-1809) and of James Madison (1809-1817) the state became the church. Within a year of his inauguration, Jefferson began attending church services in the House of Representatives. Madison followed Jefferson's example, although unlike Jefferson, who rode on horseback to church in the Capitol, Madison came in a coach and four. Worship services in the House--a practice that continued until after the Civil War--were acceptable to Jefferson because they were nondiscriminatory and voluntary. Preachers of every Protestant denomination appeared. (Catholic priests began officiating in 1826.) As early as January 1806 a female evangelist, Dorothy Ripley, delivered a camp meeting-style exhortation in the House to Jefferson, Vice President Aaron Burr, and a "crowded audience." Throughout his administration Jefferson permitted church services in executive branch buildings. The Gospel was also preached in the Supreme Court chambers.

With that settled, lets look at the possibility of a One World Government and religion.

A single world government does not have to eliminate religion, in fact, throughout history, religion has been a controlling factor among the masses.

What would need to happen is for someone or group to find a common ground that all religions agree on, and work toward uniting the religions of the world as a block for a common goal.

While church attendance is falling in most western countries, it is growing in countries where there are political or economic stresses. The Muslim faith is gaining converts, and not just fanatic extremists, but people who follow the faith as it is meant to be, one of love and peace.

A single religion may never achieve the power that some conspiracy theorists talk about, but a group of religious leaders, could, conceivably unite the masses of the world in a unified front with a goal of a religious hegemony running the show.

Someone mentions religion in this thread and I correct their misconception, and I AM THE ONE HIJACKING??? I took western civ in college along with US History got a B+ in civ and aced the US History.  As I said kindly show me in the US Constitution where it specifically states we are a christian theocracy.   I am free to believe any frigging thing I want, as a citizen of the United States.   I do not however have any right to try to force whatever I believe on you.  That is the basis of our society.  Oh and by the way I like Bill Maher believe ALL RELIGION IS BULLSHIT, and has no place in a government discussion let alone actual government.

jlf1961 -> RE: One World Government: Conspiracy Theory or Inevitable Future? (8/4/2010 12:16:51 PM)

Someone mentioned religion only in the context of what countries are based on, or are predominantly.

Considering most of the founding fathers were protestant, 3 were roman catholic, how can you even think that there was not some judeo-christian influence in the forming of the country. To deny it is shear nonsense.

Why? If a Baptist, a Catholic, a couple of Episcopalians, and a Presbyterian get together and form a gardening  club, are they necessarily forming it in accordance with christian principles? Can't it be just a gardening club?

pahunkboy -> RE: One World Government: Conspiracy Theory or Inevitable Future? (8/4/2010 1:49:06 PM)

How many protestants are on the Supreme court?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

jlf1961 -> RE: One World Government: Conspiracy Theory or Inevitable Future? (8/4/2010 2:23:43 PM)

This really isnt about the supreme court or the founding fathers, it is a topic dealing with the possibility and probability of a ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT in the near of far future.

And considering everything going on in the world today, the wars, civil wars, economy in the toilet, to even believe that there is a single group trying to run the planet and letting this all happen is insanity.

The simple truth is that there really is no possibility of a single world government anytime in the next two hundred years, if the human race even survives that long.
