In this world we never know where we will end up.  I have had to walk away from the stage and get a real job with insurance benefits.

So now I'm working for a cemetery helping people pre-plan their final wishes.

I never really thought about it, but now after seeing the grief people go through when a loved ones dies and having to make all the arrangements, I understand the reason to pre plan everything

So have you made your arrangements?  I'm not looking for any business, just curious about people here if they have thought about it

Have thought about it, haven't done anything about it... yet. To be honest, it hasn't been one of the higher priority things I've been thinking about lately.

Same here, never really thought about it either.  But now that I see it everyday, what a difference it makes.

I still have not made mine, but am discussing it with the wife.  The last thing I want her to have to go through is sitting in some office on the tragic day and have to make all the choices by herself, when she should be with family grieving the loss.  But it is easy to say and harder to do as they say

My parents who are in their early 80's made all of their arrangments several years ago. They didn't want to burden anyof the kids with the emotional or financial decisions. Paid for in advance and they will do it their way.

My mother in law left a file in her death with everything she wanted. We took it to the funeral home, to the church, and they just followed her wishes. Down to what hymns to be sung. She had a family plot so that was covered.

I think the only decision we made was which outfit to bury her in.

My parents planned for and paid for everything.  When my Dad died, all we had to do was confirm the list for the funeral home.

I have not made plans. I've thought about it, but had other pressing life issues to contend with. I've let people know what I want, and my life insurance plan will cover it.  I am mostly concerned about whose care to leave my cat in.

I'd prefer my body be used for research in some way given each time I go to a doctor they give me a confused look and say something like "Hmm, I've never seen that before."

Seriously, yes, I've given it thought (and a certain amount of planning) and this is what I want. After it's been picked over for any reusable parts and science has had it's time, cremation and a quick toss of the ashes into the ocean so I can become part of the primoridal soup again.

I have an appointment with my insurance agent for her to come to my home and discuss policy options. I've also sat my boys down and made sure they all knew my wishes. This being mostly my desire to NOT to be kept alive for an extended period, by artificial means. Also, that I'd want them to be practical and not waste money on my funeral when the money could be better spent on my living children. They are also informed that if they disregard my wishes, I will come back and haunt them.

Similar to above. Whatever I leave behind goes to the University. In return they cremate what they don't want when they are done with it and return the ashes to my family along with something like $50......woohoo right?!?!........and my family has been instructed to fling said ashes where ever they feel it's most appropriate at the time in life I died (right now that would be the farm but when I am 105+, that may be different). Location ashes flung doesn't matter but NO ONE is allowed to put them in some smancy box or urn and keep them.

Yep, I couldn't bring myself to fill out a donor card - because I'm pretty adamant about not wanting anyone to come along and harvest my organs BEFORE I'm done with them.

However, my boys know that I want any usuable organs donated, and my remains to be cremated. As for the ashes, I'm ok with them building an altar and placing them in a prominant area of the home for all who visit to marvel over my magnificent memory.
