I disagree, everybody deserves some initial respect, a stranger on the street doesn't need to earn my respect so that I treat him or her in a decent way, it's just good manners to treat others the way you want to be treated yourself. A person can lose my respect or they can gain more respect, but it's not entitlement if somebody expects others to have manners.
A domme/dom who doesn't have manners or doesn't treat others with common courtesy loses my respect, just like a sub would.

Some of us define what you describe as courtesy not respect.

I am courteous to many but respectful very very few.

Love it. Not only because it turns me on, but it is also refutes the conventional "wisdom" that sub males are the way we are because we are fixated on our mothers. My mom was not half my age, didn't wear short skirts, or play on my natural desire for a bitchy young princess.

I think common courtesy has a lot to do with respect, especially for yourself.

Almost anybody gets an initial amount of respect from me unless they do something that shows they don't deserve it. Not having respect for others says more about the person itself and the people they hang out with. I don't think respecting other human beings makes me "less" of anything, but if somebody would tell me that I have to earn their respect, I'd possibly just laugh, say "No, I don't" and walk away. It reminds me so much of subs who think they are cute when they act all stroppy and "Oh are you dominant enough to force me to submit because I will fight you..." - errr, why would I be interested in them and a power struggle? Somebody who doesn't want to submit, well fair enough but then why contact me in the first place? Same if somebody doesn't want to respect me, why should I waste time on them? Doesn't make sense to me.
