Dumb post...So what? If you don't catch them when they are actively commiting the crime of entering the country illegally you have lost your chance unless you catch them engaging in some other crime. If you illegally detain a citizen you are denying that citizen of their constitutional rights. You guys have no regard for the constitutional rights of the citizens of this country.

Now, is not the time for anyone not in this country legally, to be stopped in VA. Shouldn't be a problem....Statistics prove that only a small minority of illegals actually break another law. So Va will be catching what percentage of the illegals by enforcing these measures? I am all for sending them packing. But it is a very hollow victory to suggest that this kind of a law or procedure has any real teeth. It only patronizes the feeble minded. If anyone thinks this is some miraculous cure they are deeply mistaken.

Yeah coming in on the tail end of this because I saw Jefff's name scrolling by up at the top. I am not going to read all the pages but I will say I wholeheartedly agree with domiguy. What is going on is totally uncool and if you dont see that for yourselves, the very citizens of your country... well that is pretty spooky stuff going on with your own enthusiastic consent.

Who said this would be a cure for anything? I just said because of what is going on, Virginia is fixin to get more interesting soon. If I go for a walk, I will always carry an ID on me, I am afraid I might be stopped.

Arrests occur when someone is engaging or is suspected of having engaged in a crime. Stops such as traffic stops occur because, drum roll, a law is being broken, a vehicle is unsafe, a driver is erratic. No where does it say, run out and stop or arrest everyone you think might be from a country south of the border because they may not be here legally. Police already have the right to ask you for identification during a stop or arrest, to check that identification and to detain you if you refuse to provide it. if you don';t think so domi, run out, commit a crime and refuse to tell them who you are. I'll read about you crying about your rights later and watch you try to sue over stupidity.

There are many area's around here where day laborers hang out, hoping to get work. Often they are there most of the day { Home Depot's, Lowe's, a few 7/11's, etc. }. I can easily name 10 spots where legal and illegal immigrants {primarily all hispanic} hang out, all day, in very large numbers, trying to get labor,landscaping, or construction work. I am really curious, about this new legislation, primarily when it comes to "loitering". Then of course: routine traffic offenses, disorderly conduct, public nuisances, domestic disputes, trespassing, and any number of minor "petty" offenses.

Which is why we must increase the number of visas we provide, so that it matches the free market demand for labor. As the Republicans are so fond of saying- "let the market take care of it".

Power to Virgina!! States issue ID's to their citizens. States have laws regarding being a resident and having to register and get an ID in that state. Generally like 30-90 days one is required to obtain a State ID in most places. How the hell, is it illegal for a state to enforce laws on their books or Enforce Federal Laws on a book. A police officer should be able to arrest somebody if they commit a crime that's local, state or federal in nature. The Obama admistration is doing a grave injustice towards the latino/hispanics that are trying to get into this country legally! There are people that are standing in the line waiting to get into the US. They are doing things by the book and legally. They are not breaking any laws. Yet, the ones that have entered this Country are going to be rewarded for breaking the law and for jumping ahead in the line? This is so unjust and not right. Obama is screwing good honest people over here with this madness. He's not even doing Latinos/Hispanics that are trying to enter this country legally any justice! It's also a joke to refer to Obama and the admistration as being Liberal because I'm not seeing very much liberty here. I see people getting screwed. I'm sick of the Left side going on and on about America being the Melting pot of the world. Our Immigration Policies and the Social programs establish favor certain people from certain countries. This is not an Equal opportunity for Immigration even. I'm sick of the deception being spread on the left or Democratic side. This is just as bad if not worse than the Bush Administration. America went from the frying pan and straight into the fire. I urge people of both parties to contact their representitives, let them know you are sick of these kind of politics. Both the Democrats and Republican parties need some serious reform and overhaul. Both parties have become dysfuntional and no longer are working in the best interest of the American people.
