Yes you are odd.

If anything makes less sense than the current deity, it is the gods of Greece and/or Rome.

Hey..... you asked.

I used to pray to the same god that you apparently do...the one found in a bong.

The Greek gods are actually pretty cool...a lot more entertaining than Jesus. But just because they had a better imagination doesnt mean anything said about them could be taken as possible by anyone with a 3rd grade intellect....unless they were high. Perhaps your high is natural...certainly better than admitting to the alternative.

Roman and Greek gods are confusing. If you don't think so than you must ignore the nature of this planet and Physics, also the idea that none of the Greek or Roman Gods actions well documented in BOTH Mythologies can be found here on earth and considering the scope of what was said was done it is hard to believe they ever happened. What can be found is the social attributes to many different views in the Greek and Roman belief.

What is often forgotten is the the lesser known stories in Greek Mythology like Percious (Where the idea of Persistence comes from) or Narcisis (Where Narcissism is coined) many people like to use Hercules as an allegory for Jesus the only issue with that is that makes Zeus God… Except most people forget that Zeus was the son of Chronos and Rhea. And Zeus killed his Father just to be the most powerful god.

Is there anything wrong with praying to these gods? No more than there is in praying to any other god. I believe in god, and at times I try to talk to him, but not in prayer so much as in jest. The reality is that Faith is not rational, in most cases it is the exact opposite of rational.

If you like doing it….. go for it.

I am reminded of a Thor Joke however.

Your Savior was Nailed to a Cross…. Ours has a Hammer. Any Questions?

You are going to have to do better than that.

You are going to have to lay down a solid theory on how these gods relate and how the run the universe.

For instance, why do we need Aphrodite AND Eros? One god and one goddess for the same thing?

It can be ugly down here in the CM basement.

Sack up or shut up dude,

first of all. Aphrodite and Eros are not God and Goddess of the same thing..Aphrodite was the Goddess of Love in the aspect of looks...physicall love basically..while her Son Eros was more of the spirituall and deeper love... and honestly who in the world tries to make Religion in general make sense with Physics...honestly...you dont try to make the Bible and God make sense with it so why bash on someone else's beliefs?

Whoa... first off I don't believe in God...

Second, if I did Monotheism makes a lot more sense.

The Greeks and Romans used their gods to make sense of everyday things.

We have come a fair bit away from that.

Just to be on the safe side, I often include: GOD and GODDESS.

Who ever said the almighty was a man????????

In times of need, I pray to: GOD/GODDESS, my creator, and my guardian angels.

When I am feeling special, I say: GOD/GODDESS, MY LORD, JESUS CHRIST, MY CREATOR, SHANG TI, ALLAH, KRISHNA, JEHOVAH, and every other name I can think of.

I have many guardian angels and I am always calling on them too.

I enjoy the stories of mythology; Greek, Roman, other. As for modern religion; largely looks like a jumbled up mess, to me.

I found my own source to understand the plight of man, but I am still unsure of how it coincides with the beliefs of others; past and present. However, there is a section that portrays a boy, who dies as a young man, and later becomes king. As king, he holds the future of man in his hair (I suspect a reference to DNA). The images remind me of the story of Jesus.

Still working on the rest.

I would argue that there are no " beings" who created our world.

I would argue that " God" is an excuse for what we won't deal with ourselves.

Every time I hear some one say " prayer really works!" I think about all those prayers that go unanswered.

All I ever get is, "You can't know the mind of God" or " God works in mysterious ways"

Apparently God thinks, for instance, that some missing children should never be found.

many on this site are heretics, agnostics, non-believers that are often anti-GOD and many just enjoy trashing our "CREATOR", so I rarely, rarely, rarely even bother to read or post on religious threads, on this site.

If I feel the need to chat about our LORD, I will go among other Believers, even on-line.

Pray to whom you serve!
Welcome and Peace and Blessings to YOU!
May GOD/GODDESS BLESS YOU!

I love the Greek myths but do not believe in them as fact.

Notice some of the fascinating things about them, though... Pan and Dionysius/Bacchus are clearly from another system and were grafted onto the Greek system.  Note that they did not live on Olympus and did not relate to the other gods, unlike Poseidon and Hades, who lived elsewhere but had stories that intertwined with the others.

Also, Pan was such a powerful god that the Christian missionaries fashioned the Devil in his image, to denigrate him.
