never happen, and anyone that votes can kiss their career goodbye. Unless they are from Me, NH or VT.

Yeah it was particularly effective at ending the career of the last POTUS from California that did it... not.

Yeah an ex GOP governor of California who somehow got himself elected POTUS would never freeze military pay, oh wait... never mind.

Garbled facts as always. Reagan wanted to exempt the military but the Democrat controlled House would not allow other freezes if the military wasnt also frozen.

It is funny how when the deficit commission says "every option is on the table" they mean every option....except actually reducing the scale and size of the military itself.

The closest they can get is balancing the budget on the backs of senior citizens, or soldiers.

How much of the military budget goes to rank and file soldiers, versus outsourced contractors? How are Halliburton, KBR and Dyncorp able to make billions in profits, while enlisted men's families live on food stamps?

God forbid we actually change our foreign policy so that we don't have to spend 1 Trillion dollars a year on the elusive mirage called "security".

Back when I was a conservative, my favorite saying was that "Fat will never be cut as long as Fat holds the knife".

Still true today.

Not entirely.

quote:

Probably the most blatant example of San Francisco's anti-military bias was displayed last month by the city's Board of Supervisors when
they voted 3-8 against docking the WWII/Korean War-era USS Iowa as a floating museum at the Port of San Francisco. This was after the local Congressional delegation secured $3 million to move the Iowa from Rhode Island to San Francisco because a study had shown the ship would bring in 500,000 visitors a year.

I did find this quote interesting, considering how Feinstein is routinely speared around here as being a radical....

"Senator Dianne Feinstein, the former mayor of San Francisco and a voice of moderation when it comes to her hometown, was not at all happy about the decision.

Feinstein told The Chronicle: "This isn't the San Francisco that I've known and loved and grew up in and was born in. I thought that in view of what's going on and in view of the loss of lives of our men and women, it was a very petty decision." Her comments demonstrate that showing respect for the military needn't involve partisanship."
If you don't think CA supports the military, check out Southern California.

Funny, I was in the service back then and our pay table was frozen in the budget Reagan sent to Congress while containing raises for the various top end government pay scales and that is exactly what got passed. There was no freeze except for the bottom civilian pay scales and the military.
