i use writing as a way to deal with rage. When i understand where it comes from, when i articulate those feelings, that allows me to cope with my rage; and, eventually, to let go of it.

I have rage...but only directed at myself not others. I can become very upset with my own stupidity.

I used to have a very bad temper. I have learned that all the things that enraged me were better handled by NOT being so angry.

Rage is anger based in intense fear, fear of loss, fear the unknown, intense frustration.

Some of the things that used to enrage me are just stupid now...once someone has actually experienced real trauma in their lives, the silly things just don't push your buttons anymore.

Maturity is realizing, as many have said here, that you know the limits to what you have control over and what you can effect change with.

Rage is just an immature response and it really is ego run amok.

The only time I imagine I would feel rage again is if someone attempted to hurt my family in any way; but even then, I would have better ways of addressing it.

As for coping mechanisms, tried them all and now the best one is to remain calm, and remove yourself from whatever situation or person that inspires the rage.

Also, after being with someone who expressed rage easily, I recognize how unacceptable and unattractive people are who show rage. They try to call it being dramatic, but it really is just self centered and childish to display rage.

No I don't have rage and would never ever be with someone that has it.

Now my daughter does have it and it is very difficult to deal with. I have to take drastic measures to keep everyone out of harm from it.

The only thing that works with her is medication. We've tried meditation, counting to 10 and all the other imagery type of therapies and she never sticks with it.

Some people find that therapies work though and that's great if they finally get a handle on it. It's not easy but is possible.
