Brain -> Watergate Becomes Sore Point at Nixon Library (8/7/2010 2:54:45 AM)

If he is right Nixon should not have resigned. Unfortunate the entire exhibit has to be empty.

FTA:
“I worked for Mr. Nixon during the last five years of his life,” Mr. Bostock said. “Definitely the president did things that were wrong. He said so himself. The real question always comes to, Did the actions that he took that were wrong, did they merit impeachment and removal from my office? My view is that they did not reach the level of offenses for which he could be impeached and convicted.”

Watergate Becomes Sore Point at Nixon Library

YORBA LINDA, Calif. — The sign at the entrance to the largest exhibition room devoted to a single subject at the Nixon Presidential Library and Museum reads “Watergate.” But on Friday, the exhibit was nearly empty, dominated by a 30-foot blank slate of a wall that is testimony to a new battle set off by this still-polarizing former president: how to mark the scandal that forced him from office 36 years ago.

Officials at the National Archives have curated a searing recollection of the Watergate scandal, based on videotaped interviews with 150 associates of Richard M. Nixon, an interactive exhibition that was supposed to have opened on July 1. But the Nixon Foundation — a group of Nixon loyalists who controlled this museum until the National Archives took it over three years ago — described it as unfair and distorted, and requested that the archives not approve the exhibition until its objections are addressed.

“Taping and wiretapping go back as far as F.D.R.,” Mr. Bostock said. “It lacks the context it needs: that Nixon was not the first president to do some of these things and that some of these things had been going on with many of his predecessors, in some cases, much more than he did.”

The space, mostly empty, where a Watergate exhibit was scheduled to open July 1 at the Richard M. Nixon library and museum.

DarkSteven -> RE: Watergate Becomes Sore Point at Nixon Library (8/7/2010 4:38:30 AM)

Huh?  Watergate was a huge issue initially because the break-in was at the Democratic party headquarters.  The genuine issue IIRC was obstruction of justice.  Had it been a simple case of wiretapping, it wouldn't have been much.

I cannot imagine the most conservative poster here defending Nixon in his conduct regarding Watergate.  And there's no way that any exhibit about Nixon could be complete without it - it defined him at the end.

Suck it up, Bostock.

If one President can be considered guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors for oral sex, then a President who tried to sabotage an election in his favor would also be guilty of high crimes, misdemeanors and obstruction of justice.

You are trying to compare a blow job to watergate? Seriously? Maybe you should take that shoe out of your mouth, I think it may be cutting off the oxygen to your brain.

Moonhead -> RE: Watergate Becomes Sore Point at Nixon Library (8/7/2010 5:37:11 AM)

Which president was guilty of high crimes and misdemenenours for oral sex, in any case? Nixon and Clinton were two separate presidents the last time I checked, and I don't remember hearing any impeachment talk about Nixon getting his cock sucked by an intern. I think people would have been a lot more upset about the Kent State and Watergate things even if if he had been getting blown on a regular basis.
Wasn't that more Kissinger's thing, in any case?

Not exactly, boi.  He's saying that the blow job was considered serious enough for impeachment (which it wasn't, it was Clinton's lying under oath), and that Nixon's offenses were more serious.

Steven the where was the "lie"??   As recorded, Clinton when asked by the prosecutor if he had had "sex" with Ms Lewinsky, immediately asked the judge to define "sex" and the judge defined sex as "intercourse" (again as recorded).   Then the prosecutor re-asked the original question, and Clinton answered NO based on the definition given by the judge.    Where is the lie/perjury in that exchange??

Ok, sorry about that, I read it wrong. You can put the shoe back now.

Brain, did you hear that they had a fire at the Bill Clinton library? All three books got burned and Bill was pissed because he hadn't finished coloring one of them!
Have you seen pictures of it? LOL, it looks like a "double wide!"
You can take the Clintons out of the trailer park but you can't take the trailer park out of the Clintons.

Dont know what recordings youre listening to, but the perjury charge was related to a written defintion of sexual relations that absoulutely included oral sex. Clinton testfied no after looking at the written defnition. He later claimed that he said no because he thought the definition only applied to giving, not receiving. Riiiggghhhhttttt

Clinton is a sociopath, what do you think he's going to say?

Ive used the word before to describe him as well. However, that might be a little broad. A more approriate clinical description would probably be anti-social personality disorder.

Throw in sexual predator and youve got the makings of helluva party animal.

That was the George Bush library whenever I've heard that one.
Here's a tip old boy: that joke works a lot better about a president who claimed that his favourite book is The Hungry Caterpillar when he was campaigning, rather than one who got a degree from Oxford.

Likewise.  I heard that the Ronald Reagan library was comic books, the W library was coloring books, and the Clinton library was porn.

And here's a tip for you, Old Bean, Clinton never got a degree from Oxford. Look it up. lolol
There was a little matter of him being accused of sexual assault by a local girl there and,..... it was "Off to YALE!"

The next residence the Clintons will be moving into will not be a trailer park; it will be the White House when Hillary becomes POTUS.
Bill
