I just heard from her today. This is what she wrote me: Hi Steven, Sorry to pull a disappearing act but I`ve just been released from the hospital. On June 13 there was a gas leak in my apt and it exploded with me in it. I was airlifted to a special burn unit in Valencia for treatment of 2nd and 3rd degree burns to 40 % of my body and will be going through recovery for the next couple of years. They almost lost me a couple of times, I was in a coma for 5 weeks on a ventilator and then a tracheotomy. The past 2 weeks I`ve made amazing progress... the doctors thought I would be in ICU until Sept but instead they`ve released me to a nearby apt where friends and family are taking it in shifts to help me. I`m in rehab and have just started walking on my own the use of my hands will take quite a bit longer as they had to be totally reconstructed. I`m looking a bit like a patchwork doll as the areas that weren`t burned have scars from skin grafts used to patch up the rest of me, I was very lucky that my face is almost unscathed. ------------------ Wow. Just wow. She should be back and her usual sassy self here shortly... Post wishes for a speedy recovery here!

Being burned is one thing I don't think I could face and get through. JB has my utmost respect and admiration! As well as my thoughts and wishes for the very best!

She will be in my thoughts... wow, what a terrible thing... I think it is a testament to her strength that 1. she found something to be grateful for and 2. she is recovering more quickly than expected... I can't help but think the two are related

Oh my Lord. How insane for something like that to happen to her! i was greatly enjoying her posts and her thoughts as she explored them here with us. Many positive thoughts to jb for a speedy and seamless recovery. Like others, i send a gentle hug and a prayer.

Holy cow!! So sorry to hear about this jb. Sounds kind of like you were the unwitting star in a new movie - it all seems so surreal. Seriously, I hope you continue to recover...best wishes.
