Move to a big city. Your water will come right out of the tap "flavored"

It's a wonder I got any sleep last night, because I drank 2  16 ounce bottles of water back to back and had some of yet another one before bed. I would of expected to be running to the pottty every 20 minutes but one piss before bed kept me a ok as far as the needing to piss thing.

I know what works for me.

A dab of vinegar added to water on occasion is a good thing.  Apples made the vinegar.

Our grocer had a water dispenser- bring your own jug- it is $0.35 for a gallon.   So I get like 5 at a time.   Even plain water- you get used to the taste.  If I had a soda now days it would shock my system.

Yeah PA. I next to never drink soda's never really cared for them, not even as a child. Now when I have some, I have to get sprite or something, because the taste of other soda's like Dr Pepper or Orange kiss, is to sweet an ucky, and leaves an after taste in my mouth.

PA you've been reading books on how to keep healthy.  Rid the demon's or whatever you want to call it.  My father used to swear by the vinegar thing.  Every now and then there is an e-mail circulating of how great apple cider vinegar is for you.  Including dropping pounds.  I've tried it, just can't swallow it.  I've even went as far as trying to just take a swig of vinegar...oh no, it is not for me.  Kudo's to you being able to get it down.

Well, that was kind of my point to you. There is just as much sugar in a sprite as their is in Dr. Pepper or whatever type of soda. Nix soda totally, it is bad stuff. Didn't you say your partner drinks it by the case or liter? Tell him how incredibly bad that is for him.

When diluted- it is not hard to keep down.

the next best thing- italian dressing- mix up your own.

sub4hire -> RE: What are the all natural, or healthy tasty ways you like to flavor water? (8/10/2010 12:28:09 PM)

I could probably drink a tablespoon full of italian dressing a day.  Not the vinegar.

Yes, he does, and trust me I am always telling him how bad for him soda is or it's to late to drink that, since at 11:30 at night he wants to chug a soda. He doesn't care. He's addicted to it, when he stops drinking soda he gets tired and headachey and I told him no duh, it's the caffine an sugar in it an so he cuts back from say, 10 a day to 5, but he won't completely stop drinking them.

And I told him one day you're gonna give yourself diabetes and he's very cavalier about it..

-FR-

I throw a bit of apple juice into the water, natural not from concentrate whenever possible. Then it tastes good and I end up drinking a glass or two easily.

My favorite way to prepare my drinking water is to slice a cucumber into a gallon of water and let it soak overnight in the fridge. Sometimes I add just a bit of lemon too but most of the time just the cucumber. It has a very subtle flavor, is amazingly refreshing and seems to quench your thirst better than plain water.

Any kind of cucumber or a particular one?

I just use plain old, everyday cucumbers. I suppose if you like the flavor of a particular variety more than another you could use that.

The dabetic nutrition class I went to, the instructor said Juice has a ton of sugar even the all natural, and you really should stay away from it, even in small amounts.

But I still drink juice now and then so maybe I'll try it that way hehehe.

I just very recently discovered some Ocean Spray juices that say they are "diet." They are sugar-free and lo-cal. The blueberry and blueberry/pomegranate are delicious! I'm diabetic as well and moderate amounts of this ever so often do nothing to raise my blood sugar levels. Give it a try...........luci

Twoshoes, if I am going to drink tea, I want sugar in it lol. And there's other options out there, other than tea, that deserve to be brought into the light as well:)

Oh, but have you ever been to a gourmet tea shop? There are so many different flavors of subtly sweet, so it doesn't take much to make it even sweeter. Make it hot or cold, taste test and see what you find delicious. Then, if that's not sweet enough for you, as it's not for me, a little honey or natural maple syrup. If you can't have those sweeteners, try the smallest amount of stevia, such as half of one of the smallest, head-of-a-pin tablets. I don't know the names of the more exotic ones, but some common sweeter tea ingredients are orange peel, orange spice, licorice, vanilla, fruit tea (not the sugar content of juice or whole fruit) such as blueberry or apricot. Coco! - I was just introduced to a tea with the scent and flavor of coco. Tea brewed from ginger and/or ginseng is bracing and tasty and extremely healthy - again, you may want to sweeten in some healthier way.

The healthiest addition to water is to get a custom herbal formula prescribed by a good doctor of Oriental Medicine, and brew it. The taste will be distinctive, but if you dare, take it like a woman! :P It's worth the benefits!

is there anything I should be concerned about if I choose the essential oil rout and put a drop or two in my water?

Essential oils are, typically, NOT EDIBLE. The extraction method used for essential oils is toxic for many of them. If you want to use flavoring oils, you need to make sure that they are food-grade oils, and are extracted into a food-grade substance.

That being said, there are some awesome natural flavor extracts out there. Some of the brands that are good are Frontier Herbs, Nature's Extracts, and 356 Everyday Organics (from Whole Foods).

That sounds yummy, I'll have to try some! I always found some ocean spray, I believe it was , with no fructose corn syrup, and that was a great find too, since juice is, typically loaded with the stuff.

Hey TFB-

I always, always, always order lemon in my water, but I like it with cucumber as well.

I've recently tried making my own sugar free soda-- it's pretty interesting.  Just get soda water or tonic water... I forget which one I got.  Then brew some tea-- I did peach, but I also have blueberry and raspberry and mint-- but make sure the tea is VERY STRONG.

Mix the together, if you need something to sweeten it, try Splenda or I used Truvia.

I'm not positive but I'm pretty sure Holly had a great recipie a few years ago(?) for water that had cucumber, lemon and ginger in it.  I'd hit her up and ask her for it.

Actually... if you could... get her to post it here?

LOL!!!

Forgetmeknots, Sure, I could ask Holly to post it in this thread.
